KLAS v7 Workstation Installation Self-Hosted

Progress Version 10.2B / Windows 7

Keystone has developed a means of loading the client programs onto a workstation by using files located on the KLAS v7 server. In order to install these programs, a connection to the server would be made using an Internet browser. A series of links will be displayed and the programs will load as those links are accessed.

Prior to starting Installation 1. Log in to Windows as the default Local Admin account.

Logging in as a Domain Admin, Network Admin or a regular user that has been given admin rights will NOT allow the software to install properly.

2. Disable User Account Control

3. Disable all non-Microsoft virus scan software. This is necessary in order for the WebClient to install properly.

NOTE: There are slight variations during installation for Windows 7 32-bit, and Windows 7 64-bit users. Please determine if you have 32 or 64 bit by viewing your system information (right click on My Computer, left click Properties).

Step 1: Install KLAS Support Files

If you are installing on a Windows 7 machine, use Internet Explorer, run as an Administrator as the browser. (Start – Run – Internet – Right Click and select Run as Admin)

1. Open a web browser and point it to the URL given to you by Keystone. You should see a site similar to this. You will be working with the New Installation section of this website!

2. Select “Install KLAS Support Files”.

3. On the File Download – Security Warning: Select Save and save the file to your desktop.

4. Once the file is on the desktop, right click on the file and select Run As Administrator.

5. On the Internet Explorer – Security Warning, Select Run

6. When you get to the KLAS Support Files Setup Wizard, Select Next.

7. On the Choose Components window, accept the defaulted components and select Install.

8. The programs will install. When they are finished, you’ll view a screen entitled “Completing the KLAS Support Files Setup Wizard.” Click the Finish button to leave the screen.

Step 2: Install WebClient NOTE: There are several places in this part of the installation where you must select the appropriate field. Don’t just click Next until you read the instructions.

1. From the KLAS v7 Installation page, select “Install WebClient (Silent)”.

You will be asked to Run or Save the file: Select Save and save the file to your desktop. Once the file is on the desktop, right click on the file and select Run As Administrator.

2. You will get a second notification asking if you are sure you want to Run the program, Select Run

3. The OpenEdge10 window will open Click Install One time. Be patient - the install will take a few moments to complete.

4. If the installation of the WebClient is successful, you will receive a notification that the installation is complete.

You may then proceed to Step 4: Install the KLAS Client (page 6).

5. If the installation fails, you will receive an error message.

Click OK. Continue with this section.

6. From the KLAS v7 Installation page, select “WebClient - Alternative Install”.

This brings up the InstallShield One-Click Install page. You might get a message bar indicating that an Active X control is needed. If so, click on the information bar and Install ActiveX Control.

7. Once the Active X controls are installed, the Installation button changes from

“Please Wait” to “Install”. Click on the “Install” button to proceed.

8. The first screen of the installation will require you to accept the license agreement to install the Webclient. Check the appropriate box, then click next to continue.

9. The Question screen asks if the computer is part of an HTTP Proxy server network. Answer the question as appropriate. (Most are not.)

10. On the Choose WebClient Destination Location, you will need to change the path of the installation.

Click on the Browse button next to the Path.

11. The Choose Folder Screen will be displayed.

12. You can type in the paths in by hand, if the folders are available, select the folder from the tree. Windows 7 32 bit use: C:\Program Files\OpenEdge\102B\WebClient Windows 7 64 bit use: C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenEdge\102B\WebClient

13. When you return to the Choose WebClient Destination Location screen, you should see the proper destination folder displayed:

14. You may click Next through the following screens asking for confirmation of the file to be installed and the language.

15. STOP when you arrive at the “Choose Webclient Application Destination Location” screen.

16. Once again click on Browse to change the installation location. For all Windows versions, change the directory to: C:\klas7\WebClientApps

17. Click OK to accept your folder selection. Then, click Next and then Finish to complete the WebClient installation.

Step 3: Install the KLAS Production Client 1. In your Web Browser, click on the Back button to return to the KLAS v7 Installation page.

2. Select Install KLAS Production Client

3. Internet Explorer 7 will temporarily block the downloading of the installation file. You may receive an Information Bar Notification Message.

4. Close the Information Bar Notice.

5. Click on the Information Bar and choose “Download File”

6. Click Open on the File Download Screen

7. Install Klas by clicking Yes when asked to continue

8. KLAS will download necessary files to the workstation

9. KLAS will notify of a file that has failed to register. This is normal. Press OK to continue.

10. The installation will prompt you to restart.

Click NO

11. Click OK to continue.

12. Click on the KLAS Icon on the desktop to continue with installation.

You must log Into KLAS to complete the installation

Step 4. Verify KLAS Installation 1. From the KLAS installation menu you will find a link for “Verify KLAS Installation”. This will help you

determine if you’ve successfully installed KLAS.

2. Click on the link “Verify KLAS Upgrade”

3. On the File Download – Security Warning: Select Save and save the file to your desktop. Once the file is on the desktop, right click on the file and select Run As Administrator. This program will check for necessary KLAS configurations. Any Errors will be displayed in red. For detailed information regarding any error message, click Show

4. Correct the error(s) listed to continue with the KLAS Upgrade. If you do not understand the error, or do not know the best resolution to the error call Keystone for assistance

5. Select Quit when you are satisfied with the upgrade check to continue with the installation.

Step 5: Install XPrint 1. Return to your browser and select Install XPrint v7.9 from the KLAS Installation page

2. On the File Download Security Warning screen, select Run.

3. Select Run on the next screen as well.

4. The Setup Language should be English. Select OK

5. Select Next on the vpxPrint Setup Wizard

6. Click on the radio set for “I accept the agreement”, then press Next.

7. Accept the default for Select Destination Location, and press Next.

8. Accept the default for Select Start Menu Folder and press Next.

9. On the Select Additional Tasks, there should be two check marks - √ Copy xPrint.dll √ Install the vpxPrint Active-X support. Click Next to proceed

10. On the Ready to Install page, click Install

11. On the Setup – vpxPrint Information screen, select Next.

12. The Installation wizard and the complete KLAS installation will be finished when you press the Finish button.
