In psychology, emotion is often defined as a complex state of feeling that results in physical
and psychologicalchanges that influence thought and behavior.
Participants were asked to color in areas of the body that were activated by the emotion (yellow/red) and also areas that were
deactivated by the body (blue)
One interesting 2013 study tried to portray how we experience emotions in the body. Participants were instructed to color where they actively experienced the emotion in their body. Participants created similar bodily sensation maps for basic and complex emotions, ranging from love to sha me.
