A NOTE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT. So our annual exhibition has passed, while it was successful, it spotlighted some serious problems we have regarding sharing the load.

Too many of our members are complacent when it comes to supporting the few workers.

So those who gave their time and effort to make this year’s exhibition successful should feel good about the result, but those who sat back and offered no help but enjoyed the events, do you all feel a lack of respect for our great club?.

However, the displays were great, the presentation was beautiful, and the catering was terrific, the visitors all seemed to have a good time, so thank you all for your input.

Bryan Miller

Friday Potters Wow what a great exhibition. Congratulations to all entrants from all crafts. The Friday Potters were well represented and must be pleased with the results.

Thanks to all the volunteers that made the weekend a huge success. Thanks to Jenny and Yvonne who set up the pottery display. Well done ladies. This year is drawing to a rapid close. Hope all Liddelow Members gave a joyous Christmas and a very happy New Year. See you all back in 2020.

Wheelchairs for Kids I wish to thank all Liddelow Members who saved their can pull rings. Special thanks to Pat Harris and Donna Johnson who donated so many blankets. They sure kept me busy making teddy bears to match so that they could be packed with the wheelchairs. I’m sure they have made lots of children with disabilities very

happy. Merry Christmas to you all. Barb King

Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do, write to them? Why don't they just put their pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen can look for them while they deliver the mail?

I would like to say a big thank you to all of those members (so many of you not mentioned). For all of your hard work you have donated to the club, not only this year but for all the past ones. There are so many of you, and without your help, especially this year, the exhibition would not have been the success that it was.

NOTE FROM YOUR PAST PRESIDENT. As I leave this position I would like to say that it has been my intention to make our club a better club for all of the membership. This may not have always been the case but my message has always been if you see something is not working put in a suggestion and help whenever you can.

I will say it again, regardless of what your art or craft Liddelow is a facility for all of us and as such we should where possible help each others group if we can.

Our facility is by far the best Art and Craft facility around it is our responsibility to promote our crafts to the general public whenever possible. I’m sure that many of us do this already, keep up the good work.

I wish our new President and the new Committee all the best for the coming years and would hope that the membership all get behind them and assist whenever possi-ble. Remember it is our club for all of us.

Mosaic Group

It is almost the end of another year at Liddelow Arts. Last weekend we held our very successful annual club exhibition and what a terrific weekend it was. As far as the mosaic group is concerned we had a number of sales and enquiries about membership. There were lots of comments about the displays and quality of work exhibited. With 50 mosaics exhibited, the variety was extensive and I am pleased to say that even the newest members included their work in the exhibition. Congratulations to all members.

Throughout the year we continued our program of introducing a new challenge each term. They included – feathers, buildings, working in the round, all blue and white, fruit two ways, sugar skulls and Christmas themed. Most challenges were represented in the exhibition.

Congratulations to Deborah Kazich a member of the Tuesday class for winning first prize in the mosaic category at the recent Canning Show for her White on White mosaic completed during class.

Our joint end of year dinner will be held on Tuesday 10 December at the Attfield Tavern, Maddington. This will bring to an end mosaics for the year. We resume 4 February 2020.

Happy Christmas and a safe New Year.

Monday Patchwork Group

Our last term has been fairly quiet. We have had steady numbers each Monday

and everyone has been working away on their quilts. We had 23 quilts exhibited in our exhibition which was great.

Lynley has been away most of the term with ongoing treatment with her chemo.

She came in Monday 25th November and it was lovely to see her. She is doing ok, and her and Les were able to travel to Sydney to see the Military Tattoo which they absolutely loved. They made the most of their time away travelling into the Blue Mountains and doing a harbour cruise in Sydney, as well as other sight seeing places. We all wish you well Lynley.

Robyn has made another trip to Pingelly collecting quilts for the foster children.

The country ladies have been amazing in the work they have done together with knitting, dressing dolls and making children’s clothes as well. It is a real credit to their time and effort put into all this lovely work.

Jill invited all the ladies to her place for sewing on the collection day for the

Exhibition, as we couldn’t use the Liddelow premises. It was a really lovely day and great to catch up with Julie Fairall, Ronnie Adams and Valda.

We will be having our Xmas lunch on Monday 16th December, which will be the

last day for the year. All the ladies really enjoy this day and look forward to it before the Xmas break.

We wish all members a safe and happy Xmas and New Year, and look forward to

more sewing next year.

NEWS FROM THE SHED.

The wood turners are nearing the end of the year with our last day being Thursday 12th December followed by our wind up dinner on Friday 13th December.

Our attendance to our group sessions has been down a little this year with some of our members passing away while others have been too sick to attend. But on the brighter side we have had a few new members mainly Ladies all of whom are extremely keen to learn and already showing promise. So in the coming year we will see some nice work being produced

I wish all members a very Happy and Safe Christmas and New Year with all coming back in the new year refreshed and full of good wood turning ideas.

Yours truly, Dave Barrett

THURSDAY ART GROUP

It is so hard to believe that another year has all but passed.

During the year we engaged is several “workshop like “lessons conducted by

Lucy. The most recent was to convey movement into our paintings. We usually

have about one of these sessions per month and each time, even if you have been

painting for a number of years you can always still keep learning. These sessions

prove to be very beneficial.

We have had considerable success with sales this year. Although we are told of

“hard times” with little money around we had our best year at Thornlie Square

with painting being sold each time and 10 painting being sold in one visit In

addition we had our best results at the Annual Exhibition for many years when 8

paintings sold.

Indeed the standard of painting had definitely increased over the last couple of

years.

We are our looking forward to a painting morning and Xmas Lunch at Tracy’s

house on 19th December.

Merry Christmas to all and Happy Painting in 2020

Margaret Barrie

THURSDAY POTTERY GROUP I’ll start with thanks to the class members who entered work in the exhibition, without your work there is no exhibition.

Our Group would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to Yvonne Baldock, Jenny Hamilton and Barb King for displaying our work it was outstanding.

Special thanks to Gary, Kathrine and those involved in the firing of the kilns dur-ing the lead up to the exhibition.

We close for the holidays on the 12th December and resume when the school holidays are finished.

May you all have a very happy and safe holiday season.

CHRISTMAS ROOM Many thanks to the Thursday potters who set up and looked after the

Christmas Room over the weekend. Karen Thomas (set up) Belinda Hart and

Dorothy Chapman for working hard during the set up and over the weekend.

Leonie Nicol and ladies from Wednesday Soft Craft group for working in the shop

on Opening night.

SHOP NEWS

Once again a big effort was made to put new work into the shops. It was good to see members putting soft crafts and pottery in for the first time.

PLEASE REMEMBER we like to change our work at least twice a year so that the public isn’t looking at the same work all the time. Members have the opportunity to sell their work at Thornlie Square, Open Days and other events the club is involved in.

Remember the club keeps 20% of the sale price so please price your work accordingly.

Tags are available from the office or please see me.

On the front of your tag please put your name, membership number and price on one side and a brief description of the reverse side eg craft, colour etc.

Thank you Caroline for working hard as the Treasurer and making sure we get our money as quickly as possible, you do a great job.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the club.

Exhibition I wish to thank Paula Currie and Pat Llewellin ( non member) for helping me in

the kitchen with the assembly of food for the Friday night opening, your help was

invaluable. We must also thank the potters and mosaic artists for helping to hand

around the platters and get the dishes done at the end of the evening.
