How do I get rid of oil or antifreeze?

If you have oil to dispose of oil or antifreeze the AutoZone Stores and Quick Lube in Bowling Green will accept up to 5 gallons

of used oil per week per person at no charge or fee and they will recycle it.

Citizens wishing to dispose of antifreeze in an environmentally safe manner and can bring it to both the Butler County Road

Departments; both recycle it for use in their equipment.

How do I dispose of leftover paint?

Leftover paint is a common problem, but it can easily be disposed of in your garbage if it is a solid.

Simply remove the lid of the can to air-dry the paint. You may need to add kitty litter, paint hardener or other drying agents to

the paint to allow it to dry faster. Once the paint is a solid, you may throw it away with your regular garbage. Be sure to leave

the lid off the can to show the waste hauler that the paint is dry.

cooperation and recognition. The success of these processes requires the services and cooperation of the Department for

Facilities Management personnel. Those specifically involved include staff in the Building Services Division, Grounds Division,

items. Recycling at Murray State is a two-part process: Your Part and Our Part. Your Part - Source Separation

There are three containers next to most desks at Murray State: A blue container for white office paper. A red container for

mixed office paper. A neutral (tan, brown, green, etc.) container for trash. Your part in this process is source separation.

Source separation is the key to Murray State's recycling success. Sorting paper at your desk is a key factor in the success of the

University Recycling Program. Placing the cardboard in the bin is done most efficiently, if you break the box(es) down first. If

Trash and Recycling Collection

New Changes to Trash and Recycling Collection Coming July 1, 2017

Beginning July 1, 2017 recycling collection will be available to all residents at no additional cost and trash moves to once a week

collection. Recycling will be collected on the same day as trash. All Newport households currently have a Rumpke 95-gallon

trash cart. (Residents may choose to use their own trash containers as long as it has a lid.) Residents will receive a 65-gallon

recycling cart delivered to their home the last week of June 2017. All residents will receive a flyer mailed to their home detailing

the changes and explaining what is acceptable in recycling collection and a postcard advising residents what their new

collection day will be. You can also check the searchable map or the neighborhood overview to find your new collection day.

Large Items, Appliances, and Beg Bugs

•If you have a piece of furniture or other large item or excessive amounts of trash, please call Rumpke (1-877-786-7537) at least

24 hours before your regularly scheduled collection.

•Television sets cannot exceed 32 inches for curbside pick-up. Watch for special disposal options during Litterfest in the spring

and fall.

•Any mattress or upholstered furniture that may be contaminated with bedbugs must be encased in disposable plastic for

removal.

•Carpet should be rolled and tied or duct taped in sections not longer than four feet in length.

•Appliances containing refrigerant (such as air conditioners or freezers) must have the Freon removed by a certified technician

and be marked with the appropriate sticker before being placed out for curbside collection.

•According to Federal law, Rumpke is not permitted to accept batteries, tires, liquids, combustible materials or any items

identified as hazardous.
