Doug Beach formed the publishing company bearing his name in 1975. As Director of Jazz Studies for over 35 years,his Elmhurst College (IL) Jazz Band regularly appears with such greats as Clarkterry, Diane Schuur, Nicholas Payton, Pete

Christlieb, Lee Konitz, Louie Bellson, and Bobby Shew.

Professor of Music Emeritus at Ithaca (NY)College, Steve Brown has two albumsavailable under his own leadership on CafeRecords. His latest projects have includedcommissions for Harvard University, theHal Galper trio, the U.S. Airmen of Note

and the Celebration of the Arts Jazz Festival.

John Fedchock is a busy New York Citytrombonist, clinician and leader of the premier John Fedchock New York BigBand. As chief arranger and soloist withWoody Herman’s thundering Herd in the1980’s, charts he wrote for Woody’s final

Grammy-nominated albums, “50th Anniversary tour”and “Woody’s Gold Star,” received great critical acclaim.John has also toured with t.S. Monk, Gerry Mulligan,Louie Bellson, and the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band. Heholds degrees from Ohio State University and the East-man School of Music.

Jeff Jarvis, Director of Jazz Studies at California State University Long Beach, haswritten for and/or performed with LouRawls, Doc Severinsen, Joe Williams,Louie Bellson and more. He has recordedsix albums as a solo artist (trumpet) and

serves as Kendor's jazz editor.

Tom Kubis is a renown woodwind player,composer/arranger, recording artist andband leader. He has played saxophonewith such greats as Frank Rosolino, BillWatrous,Arturo Sandoval, Jack Sheldon,Pete Christlieb and Louis Bellson. In

addition to his writing for film and television, tom's musicexemplifies the contemporary big band sound. His play-ing, writing and sequencing skills have taken him all overthe world for concerts and clinics.

Bill Liston is a writer and woodwind performer whose credits include David Foster, Michael Bublé, Dave Grusin, Jamestaylor, Diane Reeves and others. Based inLos Angeles, he has orchestrated music for“Spiderman III,” “King Kong,” “Pirates Of

the Caribbean,” “World of WarCraft” and “StarCraft II.”

Chip McNeill has a masters degree in studio jazz composition from the Universityof Miami (FL) and is an active saxophonesoloist, clinician, composer/arranger and pianist. Currently serving as Chairman ofJazz Studies at the University of Illinois, he

formerly directed the Florida International University andVirginia tech University jazz programs. Currently hetours with Doc Severinsen and the tonight Show Bandand with Grammy award-winning vocalist Natalie Cole.

Bob Mintzer has toured with Buddy Rich,thad Jones-Mel Lewis, Jaco Pastorius,tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri and more. In2001 his own big band won a Grammy fortheir “Homage to Count Basie” recording.Bob is a member of the Yellowjackets andis on the faculty of the University of South-

ern California in Los Angeles.

Sammy Nestico wrote for Count Basie for17 years, and directed the USAF Airmen ofNote and the Marine Band’s White House Orchestra. He has also arranged and con-ducted recording projects for Bing Crosby,Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Barbra

Streisand, Natalie Cole, and others.

Andrew Neu is a saxophonist/woodwind player, composer, arranger andrecording artist. He regularly tours withBobby Caldwell. A graduate of temple University, he has also performed with theCurtis Institute of Music Orchestra, the

Brian Pastor Band, and the Dave Stahl Band.

Lennie Niehaus, alto soloist and arrangerfor the Stan Kenton Orchestra, hasrecorded albums of his own with Mel Lewis,Shelly Manne, Jimmy Giuffre, HamptonHawes, and more. He also composed thefilm scores for Clint Eastwood's “PaleRider,” “Unforgiven,” “true Crime,”

“Absolute Power,” and many more.

Jerry Nowak has an international reputa-tion as educator, clinician, conductor andcomposer. He is a founding member of thePhiladelphia and New Jersey SaxophoneQuartets, and studied composition with Lucien Cailliet and clarinet with Charles

Russo. He has over 1,100 publications to his credit.

George Shutack has been writing forDoug Beach Music since 1978. In additionto being a staff writer, he makes many decisions regarding the company’s musicaldirection. When he’s not writing music, hemaintains Kendor’s website, works for an

aeronautics company, and pursues his interest in archi-tecture.

Carl Strommen teaches composition andarranging at the C.W. Post Campus ofLong Island University (NY). He is a gradu-ate of the City College of New York andstudied composing and arranging withManny Albam, Rayburn Wright and

Stephan Wolpe.

Gregory Yasinitsky is a Regents Professor of Music and Director of theSchool of Music at Washington State University in Pullman. He has written forClark terry, Dave Liebman, and the USAFAirmen of Note, and has appeared as

saxophonist with Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, RayCharles, Randy Brecker and many more.

Bret Zvacek has performed with KennyWheeler, the Woody Herman Orchestraand other top artists. He has written forDave Liebman, the Army and Air Force jazzensembles, and the UNt One O’Clock LabBand. Currently he is Director of Jazz Stud-

ies at the Crane School of Music in Potsdam (NY).
