Kazan is the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Tatarstan. With a population of more than one million. It is the 8th most populous city in Russia. Kazan lies at the confluence of the Volga and Kazanka rivers in European Russia. In April 2009, the Russian Patent Office granted Kazan the right to brand itself as the "Third Capital" of Russia. The Kazan Kremlin is a World Heritage Site.

Kremlin complex is the Suyumbike Tower. It has become the architectural symbol of Kazan and is famous a long way from the Republic of Tatarstan

Kazan is a significant educational and cultural center of Russia. There are about 40 universities operating in the city. Among them there is the Kazan State University founded in 1804

There are lots of museums, libraries, concert halls, theaters in this city. Two renowned international festivals: the opera festival named after F.I. Shalyapin and the classical ballet festival named after R. Nuriev have been regularly held for a period of many years in the Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil

Apart from the local museum there is "Ermitazh-Kazan" Center located in Kazan, which is the only branch of the famous museum in Russia. There are a lot of movie theatres, entertainment centers and nightclubs of the European level in Kazan.

Transport …

Kazan is a major transportation center. There is a railway and a bus station, a river port and an international airport. Much attention is paid to the roads. Renewal of roads is performed with application of up-to-date technologies and foreign-made equipment.

Basketball team “UNICS” are known all over the world.
