Description: A logo in original color, gray scale for black and white printing, and white on color for personal preference of the company.

Date: October 29, 2015

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06, Ben Pingel

Objective:Create an original logo to fit a sound studio that had a fox as a mascot and to give the company a variety of color modes to use.

Process/Tools: The fox was hand drawn on the program using the pen tool. Edits were made to the shape in order to refine the fox outline by using the direct select tool. The sound waves are in direct proportion to each other, the smaller ones being copied from the first of the sound waves. The orange color is exactly the same throughout the entire logo, done so through use of the eye dropper tool.

Objective:To create a business card that had an original logo design, corresponding business information, and a duplex design.

Process/Tools: An original logo was created using the pen tool to imitate a sword that the company would sell. Fonts were chosen to bring out the heritage of the company and to match the theme. Description: A letterhead created for the Chinese sword company to use with all of the company’s information.

Date: November 7, 2015

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06, Ben Pingel

Objective:To create stationery for a company that includes their logo, key business and contact information, and space for the company’s printed message.

Process/Tools: A logo was created on InDesign with the pen tool to replicate one of the company’s merchandise and to display the name of the company with a proper, culture based font. This was then integrated onto a InDesign document to be formatted into a letterhead. The footer of the document was created by suing a piece of the original logo to add a feeling of unity. Key information was then placed around the symbol. Most of the page was left blank on purpose to leave the company room to write their future messages.

Description: An informational brochure warning the general public against addiction to various forms of technology. Gate fold design with a duplex layout.

Date: December 4, 2015

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06, Ben Pingel

Objective:Create a double sided, or duple, layout of a brochure incorporating folds. Folding style used in this brochure is the gate fold. Also required an original logo and original text.

Process/Tools: The logo was created on Illustrator with the pen tool. The “nplug” part of the words is a separate font integrated smoothly with the original plug design. Photos used on the brochure were edited on Photoshop for heightened lighting, clearer imaging, color changes, and in one case background removal to blend the images better into the design of the brochure. The Brochure layout was created on InDesign, particular attention payed towards the alignment of objects and the color scheme, monochromatic green.

Description: A simple web page made directly from code to display a previous made logo and to give more information about the logo.

Date: November 23, 2015

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator, Notepad++

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06, Ben Pingel

Objective:To understand how to create and manipulate code, basic HTML and CSS, to create a working and visually appealing web page.

Process/Tools: A sheet of HTML coding was created to build the basic layout of the web page. A CSS coding sheet was integrated to change the colors, fonts, and spacing of the information on the web page. Images were added by inserting links directly into the code. The background image was manipulated with the CSS code sheet. Extensive time was spent in revising the spacing and alignment of the objects on the page.

Description: A blend of six different images overlapped on top of one another. A quote was incorporated to draw out the symbolism of the image.

Date: October 24, 2015

Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06, Ben Pingel

Objective:Blend a few different images into one to convey a certain meaning found in a quote added to the Montage.

Process/Tools: Two different pictures, one of a woman dressed as royalty and another of a little girl praying, were blended together well enough that they seem to melt into each other, but their different features and dress can be differentiated. The idea was implied that the little girl would be turning into the woman due to her actions. A more royal looking image of a temple was placed in the background with multiple overlays to add a rustic, medieval feel to the image. All images were masked together in Photoshop.

Description: A design featuring an original photo that has been edited to portray a quote of choice.

Date: October 17, 2015

Programs Used: Adobe Photoshop

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06, Ben Pingel

Objective:Take a high quality photo and edit it to create a design featuring a quote.

Process/Tools: Image was taken using a Sony digital camera and placed into Photoshop. The color of the jeans was changed to match the blue of the design. The eraser in the back pocket was an unsightly pale gray color and was changed to look more like the traditional chalk board eraser. The pattern on the chalk board itself was cut out using the selection tool and recolored, copied, and layered on top of itself to create the border’s rustic design.

Programs Used: Adobe Illustrator

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 06, Ben Pingel

Objective:Create a variety of original logos the client could choose from.

Process/Tools: Each logo’s image was hand drawn with the pen tool in Adobe’s Illustrator. Different color schemes were chosen, with different design ideas, to give the client variety. These two images were not chosen, but show a crucial step in the design process. Fonts were found to complement the design and to try and express the company.
