NEW! JOY + NELSONWere married in the charming town of Port Gamble, WA. {May of 2011]

welcomeThank you for your interest in my

services. I hope that this catalog gives you a better idea of my photographic

style and answers your questions regarding packages, pricing and all the details that go

into making a successful photo session.

My appetite for photography deveoped early on in life. My Mother is a

photographer, so my summers were spent assisting her... scouting locations for shoots,

holding the reflector to cast light on her subjects and toting her gear to and from

one wedding to the next.

Naturally, I didn’t want to become a photographer at all. I had dreams of being a news broadcaster. We were ‘required’ to watch Channel 1 News in our classrooms,

and secretly it was my favorite part of the day. I wanted to be Lisa Ling or Maria Menunos when I grew up, reporting on

pressing issues in far off places.

I didn’t land on TV, but instead found myself managing the New Faces division ofNational Sports + Lifestyle Modeling

Agency. For four years, I spent my daysfinding new faces and developing their portfolios. I’ve had the opportunity to

work alongside some of the most amazing and talented commercial

photographers in the industry.Looking at imagery day in and day out, sparked my interest to pick up a camera

again... When I did, I felt at home.

It now brings me great joy to workfulltime, as a freelance photographerin the city I call home....Portland, OR.

I hope you like what you see!

I would be delighted to meet you in person, learn more about you and have the

opportunity to photograph you!

FIRST LOOKI encourage couples to see one another prior to the cereomy. Having a ‘First Look’ allows couples to see one another, without distractions and connect one-on-one before walking down the aisle. It also allows me to caputure your raw emotions!

I recommend allowing at least an hour for bride + groom portraits. Doing so, allows for a relaxing session.

The alternative is taking photos after the ceremony. Couples generally feel torn as they are anxious to get to the reception to interact with their guests.

TIMELINE FOR YOUR DAYPutting together a rough timeline for your big day, will help you figure out which package suits you best and how many hours of coverage you’ll need. Here’s a rough time estimate for you:

- Getting Ready Photos (30-60min.)- Bride + Groom (1 hour)- Wedding Party (1 hour)- Family Photos (30-45min)*Timing will depend on the number ofattendants and family members- Ceremony (30-1.5 hours)- Reception (Time varies, depending upon planned events)

LOCATIONS + PROPSI specialize in outdoor, natural light photography. I do have studio light-ing, that I take with me for church and/or winter weddings, where lighting is hard to come by. If the weather is nice (not raining) I will scout a handful of outdoor locations near your venue. Mixing up the backgrounds will give your photos variety! If it is rianing, we will still get great photos, we’ll simply be limited to the covered areas and inside of your venue.

To make your session extra fun, bring items that are unique to you! A special car, pet, sign, row boat, fishing poles etc...I can help brainstrom ideas!

YOUR SESSIONThe location of your session, paired with what you choose to wear, will be a huge determining factor in the outcome of yourphotographs. Once you have booked a session, location is something that we will discuss in more detail. Locations can be broken down into three basic categories - at home, urban and natural. A number of factors, such as ages of subjects, personal style, and time of day, will help determine the right location for you!

WHAT TO WEARDress like you normally would, with just a bit more attention to detail.

Stay away from matching solid color shirts, but do keep color in mind. If you enjoy a chance to dress up a bit, go for it! If you prefer Converse and jeans, I’m all for it! I encourage outfit changes for portrait sessions... Even if it’s only for the kids.

Don’t be afraid to mix and match colors! In addition to colors, textures and patterns can also add to the styling of your session. You can add pops of color with accessories (hats, scarfes, belts, shoes, jewelry). Layering clothing is also a great way to change a look fast.

For groups, you should try to coordinate without appearing uniform.

AT HOMEHaving a session in the comfort of your own home is a great option., espeically if you have younger children or pets. Home sessions are really special, so many of our memories are made there.

Home sessions are my preference for newborns and infants and kids tend to be much more comfortable in their own environments. Your home does need to have adequate natural light, most do and it’s an added bonus if you have a park nearby for a change of scenery.

URBANAn urban session can offer a wide variety of textures, colors and moods.

I’m open to your ideas and have lots of suggestions. Downtown, college campuses, old buildings, colorful walls, bridges, city scapes etc. provide great backgrounds.

Urban sessions are scheduled a few hours before sunset to ensure optimal lighting.

NATURALA more natural location can still offer texture, color and moods.... but it will generally be more relaxed. This could be a park, farm, orchard, or field with overgrown grass. What you wear and the season will have an impact on the overall images. You’ll likely have more privacy and space for kids to play and run free.

Natural sessions are scheduled a few hours before sunset to catch best light!

PHOTO ART, IN YOUR HOMEAre you envisioning the photos from your session, displayed throughout your home?

If so, I encourage you to consider the colors and decor of your home. To maximize the impact of the images, you’ll want to pick locations and/or clothing with the same color palette in mind. Neutral clothing generally works best, groups should stick to the same color family, without it ap-pearing uniform or ‘matchy-matchy’.

Do you have grand plans of blowing up a portrait to be a lifesized version? (My mother has several of these ‘larger than life’ photos of her grandchildren, gracing the walls of her home!) Should you have grand plans for the photos, be sure to let me know. I’ll need to shoot your session in a different format, to allow billboard size blowups! I can recommend online printing companies for canvasses and large prints too.
