    The principle of Modul 45

    One for all.

The new simplicityEach building requires an individu-al solution for electrical installa-tions. The Modul 45 series fromOBO means that it is always possi-ble to find a functional and aes-thetically pleasing solution. Modul45 can be installed universally indevice installation ducts, in under-floor systems, in installation col-umn systems and also in con-cealed and cavity wall applica-tions. Using adapters and installa-tion accessory sockets, Modul 45devices can also be used in LFSsystems with an 80 mm cover. When combined with ducts andcover frames, this produces a sys-tem in which everything ismatched and which can beadapted to new conditions at anytime using just a few actions.Switches, sockets and data tech-nology simply have to be snappedin. Device mounting has neverbeen quicker or simpler.

The advantages of Modul 45 at aglance: Modular structure Quick and easy planning Easy mounting High efficiency due to time and

cost savings Wide range of application op-

tions Space savings Easy exchangeability Flexible adaptability Attractive design

What costs or time effects can be achieved using the Modul 45 system?

The quick and low-cost type ofinstallation.

Time to save moneyThe Modul 45 system speeds upwork in each project phase, andthus makes it cheaper. Thanks tothe standardised installation di-mensions and the wealth of com-ponents and accessories, you canuse this system for almost any ap-plication. This speeds up planning a decisive competitive advan-tage, when rapid action is re-quired. You can also reduce yourwarehouse and logistics costs, be-cause you will need fewer differentsystems from different manufactur-ers. The locking system ensuresthat installations and changes at alater date can be completed quick-ly.

Time savings through plug & playWith the new Modul 45connectsocket system, OBO isoffering themost time-saving, simple and safetype of electrical installation. Anadapter for the GST18i connectorsystem is simply locked onto thesocket allowing quick connectionand forwarding of the power sup-ply with VL extension cables. Thismeans that there is no need forlengthy work steps when connect-ing sockets, such as removing ca-ble insulation, connecting cablesand mounting strain relief.

A principle which makes thegradeToday, besides function and de-sign, installation and mountingtimes are key quality characteris-tics of a product. The Modul 45system simplifies installation andthus reduces mounting times.Compared with standard installa-tion types, the cost of installation, expansion and replacement of ac-cessories is considerably lower. The decisive advantage: switches, sockets and the like are simplysnapped into the system environ-ment by hand and the perfect, attractive and practical installationis already complete.

The new Modul 45connect socketsystem is the logical step to makeelectrical installations even fasterand safer.A socket can be mount-ed and connected with just a fewactions. Adapters with the GST18iconnector system are simplylocked onto the socket and con-nection can begin, for example us-ing the known VL connection ca-bles. With the right adapter, ar-rangement of multiple sockets isno problem either. Efficient installa-tion times and safe and simple in-

stallation means that the newsockets are a particularly econom-ic addition to the OBO Modul 45product range.

    What is Modul 45connect?

Mounted at high speedTime is money! This statement re-flects the fact that installation andmounting time is becoming evermore important in the decision foror against a product. The new Mo-dul 45connect socket system fromOBO Bettermann is taking thisprinciple up and can offer new andinnovative opportunities with re-gard to speed, safety and flexibili-ty.

The new socket conceptThe Modul 45connect sockets, with their simplified installation andoptimised and reduced mountingwork, are waiting just for you. Withthem, you need not do without theknown benefits of the Modul 45products. The plug connections ofthe new sockets are located onthe front side and are thus particu-larly suited to applications in de-vice installation trunking or servicepoles. Besides the standard fixedwiring up to a cable cross-sectionof 2.5 mm, the new arrangementof the plug connections allowssimple attachment of connectionadapters. For country-specific use, protective contact sockets andsockets with an earthing pin areavailable in double and triple ver-sions with a 33 connection direc-tion.

Connection adaptersAll the connection adapters for the

Modul 45connect system areequipped with the tried-and-trustedGST18i connector system and useconnector and socket adapters tooffer a standardised connectionand forwarding option for powersupplies using the known VL ex-tension cables. To ensure visualdifferentiation between circuits, allthe connection adapters and con-nection cables are available in thecolours white and black.

Connection adapterAn additional new function is theconnection of sockets using theplug connector for the Modul45connect system. It is possible tocreate multi-socket combinations(up to 6x combinations) withoutthe need for additional wiring.

What advantages does the Modul 45connect system have?

Quick installationThe Modul 45connect sockets, to-gether with the connectionadapters, can reduce mountingtimes considerably, compared tostandard socket installations. Time-intensive work steps when con-necting sockets, such as removingthe insulation from cables, con-necting wires and mounting strainreliefs, are no longer necessary. The socket connection can bemade in a few actions without theuse of tools.

Touch protection includedIf sockets with connectionadapters or connectors are usedfor electrical installations, thenthere is no need for an additionalprotective housing. Modul45connect guarantees comprehen-sive touch protection according tothe VDE requirements.

More safetyWhen the adapter is used, it is al-most impossible to swap the con-nection sides. Each box has asocket and a plug connectionside, to which only a matching

adapter can be connected. TheModul 45connect socket systemensures that unpleasantness, andsubsequent damage caused byfaulty wiring, are a thing of thepast.

Flexible and secure for the futureShould reconstruction take placein the system at a later date, onlythe plug connections need to bedisconnected and then the systemcan be adapted to the new circum-stances without any problems.

In which areas can the Modul 45connect system be used?

Cable routing systems with45 mm system openingThe whole of the new Modul45connect socket system reallycomes into its own in cable routingsystems with a 45 mm systemopening. The sockets can belocked directly into the systemopening and thus offer the great-est ease of installation. Socketconnection and forwarding to thenext socket is carried out usingstraight connector and socketadapters. Sockets can be ar-ranged (up to 6x combinations)easily and quickly in a few actionsusing the connector for Modul45connect.

Cable routing systems with80 mm system openingAccessories are installed in cablerouting systems with an 80 mmsystem opening using the modulesupport 71MT3/45. The modulesupport is open in the downwardsdirection and offers sufficientspace for straight connectionadapters with the GST18i connec-tor system. Besides power con-nections, forwarding to the nextsocket is also extremely easy. Anadditional benefit: The compactstructure and low installation depthof the Modul 45connect socketsmean that there is a lot more in-stallation space for additional ca-bles.

Device installation systems forraised floors and open, screed-flush duct systemsThe Modul 45connect systemmakes device installation in theraised floor system environmentand in open, screed-flush duct sys-tems even easier and safer. Ac-cessories are installed using theMT3/45 and MT4/45 module sup-ports. Sockets are connected us-ing a U-shaped adapter, whichwas designed especially for under-floor use. When the U-shapedadapter is mounted, the connec-tion point for the extension cable islocated beneath the socket. Sock-et combinations such as 1 x 4x or2 x 2x can be created quickly andsimply using Modul 45.

Economic in first fitting.Flexible and low costs on changes of use

    Building use with individual offices

Reduction of the technical build-ing infrastructure to a minimumIn recent years, the requirementsplaced on commercial buildingshave grown enormously. In particu-lar, with regard to workstations, there is a demand for flexibility andreversibility. Even during planning, actions must be taken for the fu-ture in order to permit later adapta-tions and possible unknownchanges.

Out of the wallIAS can turn single-room offices in-to functioning open plan officeswith ease and vice-versa. As thefixed cabling in the building is re-duced to a minimum, the changestake place almost solely at theworkstation, and not in the buildingitself.

Consolidation Points as a new interface to the building

Building use as an open plan office

Intelligent, forward-thinking build-ing technology planning, togetherwith workstation planning, createsIAS connection points all over thebuilding - so called ConsolidationPoints (CP). They minimise thefixed cabling in the building, pro-viding, together with the IAS mod-ules, the highest level of flexibility. And there are no new costs forbuilding technology during restruc-turing measures. The spheres ofactivity of the Consolidation Pointsare almost unlimited. With just afew interfaces, it is possible to in-terconnect the workstations onwhole floors.

Power supply units VH and VHF

All good things come from abovePower supply units for powerand compressed airOften, supplying power to worksta-tions in production and workshopsis a difficult matter. The requiredpower sources, such as heavy cur-rent and compressed air, comefrom central supply points, are runto the individual workstations andmust then often be re-bundled. Th-ese supply lines are often easilymissed and pose an additional riskat the workstation. Besides posingthe risk of tripping, carelessly rout-ed compressed air hoses or pow-er cable extensions often cause -transport problems and aresources of risk not to be underesti-mated, especially when rapidworking routes are required.OBO Bettermann can provide as-sistance here: With the space-sav-ing type VH and VHF power supplyunits, problematic extension ca-bles and hoses are a thing of thepast. The solution is literally in theair and close at hand! The re-quired compact, box-like distribu-tors can be suspended from theceiling using a knotted chain andthus freely positioned in the room. Thus OBO power supply units offersafe, rational working at the work-station.

VH power supply unitUnder normal working conditions, the VH distributor is used for ma-chining and mounting areas or in

car workshops. To meet the necessary require-ments, besides the freely equip-pable power supply units for fouror eight devices, there is also arange of pre-equipped and pre-wired units available.
