Transcript

    Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

    What me worry?

  • Pre-event organization includes briefing with security.

  • Making a point about where to

seat those students with no media agreement

    on file.

    Here we update displays with

basketball poetry relevant to the event.

  • Chris Egan is the sports anchor for King 5 TV here in

    Seattle.

    Publicist Adam Rifenberick and

West Seattle Blog writer Patrick Sand talking about plans

    for the visit.

  • Meeting about what is going to happen

  • Setting up an iPad to record the visit

  • And he's here!

  • Kareem and his entourage.

  • Kareem gave a media interview in the library office

that was heard on King5 News.

Now it's time to have a seat!

  • Entertaining the troops

    while seating all 100 kids.

We played John Coltrane's "Giant Steps" and our guest heard it.

    He loves Coltrane's music, too.

  • In he comes!

  • A student introduction by Robert welcomed Kareem Abdul Jabbar to

    Sanislo.

  • The more you read the more you'll

    grow....up to 7'2"!

  • Questions?

  • KAJ took lots of time for questions, too.

Kareem talked about his love of

    books.

  • What did UCLA coach John Wooden teach you about the game of life?

"Failing to prepare is preparing to fail."

Just as you practice your basketball skills, homework is practice for success in academics.

Coach Wooden used basketball to teach us about life.

  • Mr Seasholes said, "I would love to see KAJ write a book about great athletes having great post sports careers." People who make a difference in our communities are role models we need to know.

  • Lots of people were there.

  • Sharing ideas in the library is a game we

    play where everybody wins.

  • Kareem holding a few book gifts we gave him

    as thanks.

  • He even autographed a basketball for

    Sanislo.

  • Thank you !

  • West Seattle Blogger heading home to write his own story of the

    visit.

  • Two L's signing after a great day in the LIBRARY.
