K1X has a healthy tradition of teaming up with inner-city tournaments liKe ”together we chill” (harlem), ”lower manhat tan classic” (les), ”hoops in the sun” (BronX), ”Kingdome” (harlem) and ”watson” (BronX). two summers ago, we captured that vibraNt streetball sceNe oN film iN what i like to call a ”love let ter to NYc hoops”. make sure to look up the clip on Vimeo: ”red cafe – heart soul”. and that’s where our frieNd keviN couliau comes iN. he’s a freNch ball plaYer aNd streetball activist aNd documeNtarist, who filmed the aforemeNtioNed clip aNd receNtlY made a huge splash with the streetball documeNtarY ”doiN’ it iN the park”, which he directed aloNgside bobbito garcia. great stuff! of course, kev was the perfect guY to shoot this catalogue. dude kNows everY court in the city. (and he can hit the open jumper any time any place).

we maKe it a point to include the fam (always closely inVolVed in the creation of a new collection) in our shoots, so tom and tith were oBVious choices. el (which is short for eleVator) is the coolest cat eVer. and he can jump to the moon, which makes him a perfect testimoNial for our New performaNce shoe ”anti-graVity”. we flew him in from georgia. of course, we Knew he was going to lose his money and his Keys (which he did), and Be late for eVery single appointment (which he was). but el is el. we became frieNds wheN we shot the iNfamous team flight brothers look book iN florida, back iN 2008. the other guYs You see oN the followiNg pages are a skater/Baller friend of tith’s called jonathan, as well as a Bunch of great ballplaYers, who were mostlY iNtroduced to us bY

briaN ”smokiN aces” kortovic. briaN, a lightNiNg quick guard who has plaYed professioNallY iN top leagues all over the world, was thiiis close to sigNiNg a coNtract with the kNicks last summer. didn’t worK out (But we’re rooting for you, Buddy!). as you may or may not Know, we recently signed the nBa’s most spectacular leaper, james white of the ny KnicKs. he is capable of violatiNg the free throw liNe with two haNded windmills, liKe mj, the doctor and B-douBle could only haVe dreamed of. but we shot this look book iN october, back before we Knew james would join us - that ’s whY he’s Not iN this book, just in case you were wondering.
