HAMAAGALSPOTLIGHT: Shavuot

The Spiritual Summit: A Revelation of Our Common Ground

Tradition teaches that we were all present at Sinai; each of us understanding our encounter with our unique abilities. This is celebrated on Shavuot.

This year we have reimagined Shavuot using this teaching of arriving at Mount Sinai. Beginning with a silent breakfast, we will join together for a service that is both introspective and interactive. We will experience sacred text, embodied spirituality, prayers, meditation and chant. These spiritual practices will be our investigation of our experience of connection and revelation.

Collectively we will discover our place at the mountain and how it fits with the larger CBH community. Together, we will share the bounty of our personal and collective revelation.

Come curious. Come simply. Come willingly.RSVP online please so we can order enough breakfast.

Shavuot Family Ice-Cream Party Saturday, June 11, 7pm Come hear the annual telling of the story of Moses and the Ten Commandments with ice cream and toppings for props! Help Rabbi Josh make a Mount Sinai of ice cream... and then help him eat it!

Shavuot Yizkor Monday, June 13, 9amAt the Yizkor service, we take time to remember our loved ones who have passed away. Please let us know if you will be attending so we will know if we will have a minyan. Email [email protected] by Thursday, June 9.

DONATIONS CBHCS NEWSRegistration for the 2016-17 school year is now open!

Join the fun at the CBH Community School (CBHCS) next year! CBHCS is our Sunday morning religious school for children from Pre-K through 7th grade. We blend Jewish literacy education (prayers, holidays, stories, songs and Hebrew) with topical and social justice learning around race, disability and ableism, gender, body image, and holocaust.

If you have a child in this age range who is not yet a part of our school community, or if you know of friends or neighbors who might be a good fit for our school program, please contact Emet Ozar at [email protected] for more information. We’d love to have you! The Matan Fund Can Help The Matan Fund is one of many ways you can direct your giving to a resource within our community that will help families at the Community School. The Matan Fund was established in 2012 as a tuition assistance fund. It is intended to help families overcome temporary financial challenges through subsidizing a portion of the yearly Community School tuition. To give to the Matan Fund, visit the CBH Website or call the office. If you are a family in need of support, and would like to learn more about applying for assistance, please look for information on the CBH Website: https://congregationbethaverim.org/content/forms-and-documents.
