Every cloud has a silver lining…Over the past couple months we have asked you to consider the thought that every cloud has a silver lining. Meaning there is potential for something positive or beneficial to result from a negative situation, such as being cooped up during the Covid-19 Pandemic. We received such an array of responses that we wanted to share them with everyone.
Bike & Fish EventJune 19 @ 6:30 pm
Enjoy some fun in the sun with us (and at a social distance)! Join us Friday, June 19 at 6:30pm at Wilder Park in Allison for some biking and/or fishing fun. Bring your bike or fishing pole or camping chair and you can choose to ride or cast or just enjoy the evening shade with others from the church. We have the large shelter house reserved that evening and plan to provide ice cream or other assorted frozen treats over stories of the fish we caught.
● More time to do yard work and gardening.
● Reading scripture more frequently.
● Going back to college.● Beautiful sunsets.● Starting a Bible study.● The world got slowed down.● Saving gas.● Meals as a family.● Time to do spring cleaning.● Unhurried devotion & prayer.
● More love and compassion.● Reminder that God is
ALWAYS in control.● Time to reach out and
connect with family.● Weekly worship with family
at home.● Gained a greater
appreciation for things such as handshakes, visiting with friends in person, toilet paper, cashiers...
One thing that remains true through it all:
God is always in control!
While we were unable to have worship services and gatherings at Hope, we tried to use our time of shut down for good. Some might even call it a silver lining… (Hah.. See what I did there?) Anyway, some of our congregation generously offered and donated materials, time, efforts, and services to complete a remodel of the main entry at the church. The vision was to create a space to welcome all who enter the doors with loving arms, just as Jesus would. With the changes to the lighting and a fresh coat of paint on the walls we feel we have created a space that can do just that. Now all we need to add are some joyous faces with hearts to welcome others to join us in worship and fellowship - that’s where you come in! To answer some questions: Yes, we do plan to put up some coat racks in the near future (with the summer heat and humidity upon us, we have some time before coats are needed). And yes, the mailboxes will be updated and available for use when the time is right. With concerns of COVID-19 right now, it is best not to invite people to congregate around something that is being touched by many hands. Thank you to those who helped with this project, whether behind the scenes or front and center. By the way, did you notice Pastor Nate even put on his toolbelt to help! (This picture better represents his work ethics compared to the one from the Soup Supper! Haha!)
