YEAR ROUND REDEEMER
“For us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” First Corinthians 8:6
With the coming of the summer time comes a different approach to living. There is a strong desire to get out and away from the closed in way of life that winter and school seem to press upon us. Do we have a similar desire
when it comes to our Lord and Redeemer?
It seems that just as summer brings a different approach and attitude to life and living, it also brings a different attitude toward our life and living in our Redeemer Jesus Christ. What kind of Redeemer do you want for the Summer?
Max Lucado describes three alternative redeemers that most people prefer, especially when the real Redeemer gets in the way of their enjoyment or pleasure. Which would you prefer?
THE RABBIT’S FOOT REDEEMER
This redeemer is: pocket-sized; handy; easily packaged, and easily understood. You can put its picture on your wall or you can stick it in your wallet as insurance. You can frame it. Dangle it from your rear-view mirror or glue it to your dashboard, workbench, desk, etc.
THE ALADDIN’S LAMP REDEEMER
This redeemer offers you: new jobs, pink Cadillacs, new and improved spouses, homes, luxuries, and much more. Your wish is his command. And what’s more, he conveniently re-enters the lamp when you don’t want him around.
THE MONTY HALL REDEEMER
“All right, Redeemer, let’s make a deal. For 52 Sundays a year, I’ll put on a costume - I’ll dress respectably, and I’ll en-dure any sermon you throw at me. In exchange, you give me my freedom the rest of the time and the grace behind pearly gate number 3.”**
Rabbit’s Foot, Aladdin’s Lamp, and Monty Hall Redeemers make few demands, offer no challenges, require no sacri-fice or need for commitment. They are sightless and heartless redeemers, perfect for those seeking a vacation or sum-
mer break from the real Redeemer.
What kind of redeemer do you want for the summer? While you enjoy your summer break, will sin take a break, will Aunt Edna’s cancer take a break? Will suffering take a vacation? Will muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, rape, murder,
retardation, death, and every other child of sin take a different approach to those they afflict this summer? Will your
sinfulness take some time off so you can enjoy the summer? NO THEY WON’T!!!!
There is only one real Redeemer and He is Jesus Christ, and He stands with us in the FALL of our sins, in the
WINTER of our death; the SPRING of our new life in His forgiveness, and in the SUMMER of our living. As the Real Re-
deemer, Jesus is God’s NO to all of sins children that would try to overpower us and determine who we are and what we shall be.
Jesus is the kind of Redeemer that isn’t: easily packaged, easily understood, commanded. Jesus doesn’t go away when you don’t want him around; he doesn’t make exchanges or deals.
Jesus is a Redeemer that has the power to save – dedicated to your welfare.
Jesus is a Redeemer that wants to save – and has done and does everything necessary for you to save you.
Jesus is a Redeemer that is at work in all things for the good of you being saved!
Jesus is your Redeemer, if you’ll receive Him and His saving work through His Word and Sacraments.
“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” 1st Tim.1:15 — even in and throughout the summer!
In Christ’s service and yours,
Pastor Love ** Max Lucado, Six Hours One Friday: Anchoring to the Cross.

Money and the Great Commission
Jesus’ parting command was: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20) Jesus was very direct and explicit with His mandate. There is no question as to where
or with whom we are to share the Gospel. The love that God gives to us is to be shared by us with all people every-where. He has given us our marching orders, and, in His strength, we can give ourselves fully to His work.
For nonbelievers and those who lack spiritual maturity, the giving of money is done begrudgingly out of a sense of
obligation. By the grace of God, our attitude toward giving is a “want to” rather than a “got to” give. We view giving as a privilege and an opportunity to spread the gospel through our money. Our giving expresses our grati-
tude for who God is and all that He has done for us through His Son. Through faith, we hold onto our money loose-ly and then are privileged to experience the joy of giving as we give God our first and best.
Money is an important tool for God’s mission. Through our faithful giving, we are able to leverage our witnessing to all people. The funding of the Great Commission needs to come from believers. The money which God entrusts to
us has many purposes, and the funding of mission work is of first importance.
Paul wrote, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.” (2 Corinthians 5:20).

Dear Trinity family of faith,
A few months ago while visiting Pastor Love he mentioned that he would be changing the response to
the "Prayer of the church." I didn't know at that time exactly what he meant but it's become a part of my prayers for
Trinity lately. In fact at about 2 a.m. today (May 9th) I woke up thinking about Trinity and the potential shortfalls in
budget, the need for new boilers and renovations of restrooms, and the need for new lighting, pew restoration and
floor replacement. It's amazing the "wisdom" that comes at 2 o'clock in the morning!! I really should get up and
write down my thoughts before they're gone!! The one remaining thought that I had, and I bet I repeated it at least
30 times while laying awake was: LORD HAVE MERCY AND ANSWER OUR PRAYER, FOR JESUS HAS SAID, WITH
MAN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE, BUT NOT WITH GOD. FOR ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD. This are the words of
Jesus in Matthew 19:26 & Mark 10:27.
Over and over it came.........the same thought, the same prayer, THE SAME ANSWER!!! With man it is impossible,
but not with God. For ALL things are possible with God.
A man whom I respect very much for his love for Trinity and his living that love through faith in Christ for the sake of
Trinity, said during a recent meeting that it's time for the whole congregation to "step up" to the challenge of the
needs of Trinity Lutheran Church/School. Many have by the mercies of God stepped up in faith. Thanks be to God.
Having said that, there are many who have not. The Lord says that if we live by the Spirit, we must keep in step with
the Spirit (Galatians 5:25). It is time for us, for all of us, to realize the ALL things are possible with God if we keep in
step with the Spirit who supplies all things to the saints.
We need to be reminded that ALL that we have is from God and belongs to God as long as we are blessed to borrow
it. Our time on earth, our days are numbered, our talents and resources are given to us for a time ...they are ALL
from God and to be used in His service. Jesus came to save us from our sins and our addiction to ourselves and
created things. We worship our Savior and praise him in song, in prayer and in action. Actions that range from
helping with the many functions at Trinity, whether it be organized efforts or spontaneous opportunities. These
efforts include Sunday School, VBS, school volunteers, altar guild, choirs, special services, the sauerkraut dinner,
greeting at the services, ushering, and the unorganized, individual efforts of visiting those in the hospital, nursing
home or hearing of someone in need and helping as you can. It is these actions that serve to make Trinity Lutheran
Church and School, a place in which we works of God are done for the sake of those among us, those who visit us,
and those around us at home and the community.
To accomplish all these ministries the Lord has given us, we have a One million, six hundred thousand dollar
($1,600,000.00) budget to meet and it's very difficult to meet that budget with dollar bills and $10 donations.
Recently we have been blessed to receive some large individual donations that have helped us get closer to meet all
expenses and we are very, very grateful for those individuals that have stepped forward. God bless you and may He
continue to bless you. Having said that, the fact remains that we need everyone to step up and accept the challenge
of bringing Trinity back to a balanced budget and make the improvements needed to carry on God's work in our
church and our mission of bringing the word of God and the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to
every child in our school, everyone in our family of faith and the world around us. Picture, if you will, new carpeting,
refurbished pews, new flooring under the pews, modern and useful restrooms and showers, new improved, adequate
lighting in the sanctuary, and new boilers to keep our buildings safe and warm. What a wonderful accomplishment
to have happen so that we leave this beautiful house of God to the next generation of students and congregation.
ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD.
As president of the congregation I believe as the Lord says in Ephesians 4, “Rather, speaking the truth in love,
we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body,
joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly,
makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” (15-16). We have been joined together, equipped
and able to build one another up together as each one does his and her part to accomplish the tasks that are before
us. WITH MAN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE BUT NOT WITH GOD. FOR ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD.
God bless each of you as you consider the ministry of Trinity. Lord have mercy and answer our prayer, for Jesus has
said, With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.
In His Service Together,
Roger Schlade, President
Trinity Lutheran Church/School
We’re all in this together!
This is the title from a song from one my favorite movies “High School Musical.” It also is an
appropriate reminder for us at Trinity. We are all in this together that is the ministry of Trinity
Lutheran Church and School. Growing up in Cleveland I am also a big Cleveland sports team
fan. I love the theme for the Cleveland Cavaliers play-off run of “All In.” Are we all in? Or are
you partially in? Do you support all the great ministry happenings at Trinity or only the ones that
apply to you or that you have a passion for? What does being all in look like anyway? Is it
different for each person? Trinity has much to celebrate as Christ’s bride but we also have our
challenges. One of the challenges we have is misconceptions. As the principal at Trinity it can
be really frustrating when I hear misconceptions. So that we can all be in this together I want to
address some of these misconceptions.
There are some who have the misconception that the school’s enrollment is continually
declining. This isn’t true. Our enrollment has been up the past two years. This year we are up
12 students from the previous year. Next year’s enrollment is only 2 student shy of where we
started this school year and it’s only the beginning of June. Granted we would like to have a lot
more students to hear the message of Christ every day. Please ask yourself what you can say
or do to promote our school and the wonderful things that take place every day.
There is another preconception that the congregational financial support for the school is
greater now than in the past. In fact, over the last three years the financial need from the
congregation in the support of the school has dropped by over $100,000. The school has cut
back 3.5 teachers and/or staff over the last 6 years to adjust for the change in student
population. It still doesn’t address our overall deficit budget, but the school has been working a
plan to have the school support more of its budget to allow the congregation to expand
ministries in other areas.
Families can’t afford Trinity is another misconception. There are numerous scholarship
opportunities available for families today. We have an aggressive scholarship program to make
sure that anyone desiring a complete education at Trinity can receive one.
I want to thank you for helping correct some of these misconceptions. I know how easy
it is to not put the best construction on things we read or hear. I also know that once we have a
certain perception, it is difficult even with facts or figures, to overcome that perception. We have
a Savior who has overcome all of our perceptions, worries, and fears. I pray that we as a
congregation continue to unify around the mission God has given us to accomplish through us.
God’s blessings on your summer and thank you for your support of Lutheran Education in
Toledo for these past 143 years.

News from Mr. Landskroener, Principal
Staffing update
Trinity’s Board of Education charged by the congregation to oversee the operation of the school
is in the process of filling the 7th grade and Art teacher positions for the 2016-17 school year.
Being good stewards of the school God has entrusted to us, we pray that God would send the
servants that we need to fill these important roles. If you have any questions about these
positions, please feel free to speak with Mr. Landskroener about them.
Sandtastic
Trinity is a sponsor for Sandtastic at Levis Commons in Perrysburg June 24th and 25th. We are
in need of volunteers to help us man our booth and share the message of our church and
school. If you are able to help, please contact the office and we will give you a time slot to help
us out. It’s just one of the ways we are going out into the community to spread the word about
Trinity.

We still have room for you. Call for a tour or give us a name and contact information and we will
contact and invite them for a tour. The office can be reached at 419-385-2301.
ANNA’S COMFORT CORNER
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: Let me tell you what I heard at a Comfort Dog meeting. My ministry team was talking about my birthday party. They said that it will be on June 26th, right after the 10:45 service. They were talking about having hot dogs, puppy dogs, pupcakes, ice cream and much more. Sounds like odd food to me! They said that it would be free but people need a ticket so they know how much food to make. There were other things too like games and stuff, but they had so many ideas that I don’t remember all of them. You know, I just had a thought. I wonder if my team thinks this is a surprise party for me! They might think that I’m sleeping when I’m under the table, but I’m really listening to everything! Anyway, I hope to see lots of friends at my party. A girl only turns 2 years old once! One more thing that you should know – I really don’t want any gifts for myself. I’ve had so much love and support that I would like to pay it forward to help out a local group called The Paws Forces, a division of The Arms Forces (www.thearmsforces.org/). This group takes shelter dogs and trains them to help veterans that are suffering from PTSD and/or Traumatic Brain Injury. Wow, the dog gets a home and the vet gets a life-long buddy to help him/her. So any donations for my birthday will be sent to help them. That would make me so happy! Please watch the News and Notes for more details. Speaking of my birthday, my friends at Westfield Achievement Academy (TPS) gave me a party on May 26th. They invited my whole team and gave them food and everything. I’m going to miss those kids over the summer! I also heard about another party at the University of Toledo Medical Center coming up on June 27th, right after my big bash at TLC! And there might be more! Wow, I am such a lucky girl! BUSY MONTH: Boy has it ever been a busy month. I have visited so many friends in hospitals and nursing homes, glad that I could bring comfort to each and every one of them. I visited one seven year old girl in the hospital and she told me that she plays hockey. I’m pretty sure that’s played on ice. Whoa, baby! I don’t like ice – too slippery! I also visited lots of schools this month. I’ve seen kids from pre-school up to college. I kept busy helping with exams at UT, BGSU and even Valparaiso (where I met up with some of my Comfort Dog friends). It is so much fun, no matter what age. They always smile when they’re petting me.
And I’ve been on several fun road trips! Besides Valpo, I visited students at two St. Peter Lutheran Schools. One is in Macomb, MI and the other in Richmond, MI. My humans also
gave a presentation at the LWML Northeast Ohio Zone rally in Painesville, OH so that meant another road trip. I sure enjoy these little adventures! I am so blessed!
Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 God’s Blessings,
Anna Comfort Dog

LUTHERAN WOMEN’S MISSIONARY LEAGUE
MITES and MISSIONS
“It Only Takes a Spark” is the theme of the Twenty-sixth Biennial LWML Ohio District Convention. This convention
theme is based on Luke 24:32, They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the
road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” The women of the Cincinnati zone are hosting this convention on June 24,
25, 26, 2016 at the Cincinnati Marriott North Hotel, 6189 Mulhauser Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069. Delegates and
guests will hear former pastoral counselor of national LWML, the Rev. Kristopher Whitby. He will be the Proclaimer at
Friday’s opening worship service with communion. The keynote speaker on Saturday will be Mr. Tim Hetzner, President
of Lutheran Church Charities, Chicago, Illinois, the Comfort Dog Ministry. We will study God’s Word with the Rev. Keith
Witte, Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Center, Ohio, attend Interest Sessions, participate in Servant Events, and
enjoy Christian fun and fellowship. The Rev. Terry Cripe, President, LCMS Ohio District, will bring district greetings.
Saturday’s events will conclude with a banquet and entertainment. Delegates will elect new officers and choose the Mission
Mite Goal for the 2016-2018 biennium. On the ballot are two grant proposals from the Toledo Zone. They are: Trinity,
Toledo’s Comfort Dog Ministry and Toledo Blind Outreach Center Ministry, St. Philip Lutheran Church. Attending from
Trinity are delegates Grace Harris and Lillian Keller; and Karen Shanahan, Editor of the OHIO DISTRICT EDITION
(ODE) of the LUTHERAN WOMAN’S QUARTERLY. Information on the candidates for office, mission grants, and
proposed bylaws changes to be presented at the convention can be found in the latest issue (summer issue) of the OHIO
DISTRICT EDITION (ODE). Please contact our delegates if you have any comments on grants, etc. Pray for all those
involved in the planning of this convention, safe travel for everyone attending and God’s blessings on the convention.
Thank you for the overwhelming response to our request for empty prescription bottles. These bottles will be sterilized
by volunteers and reused by Matthew 25 Ministries, an ecumenical organization in Cincinnati whose ministry assists with
humanitarian aid and disaster relief. PLEASE, WE WILL NO LONGER COLLECT THESE BOTTLES AFTER JUNE 1.
God places a great opportunity into our hands to share the salvation of Jesus through Mite offerings, in whatever
denomination we choose, whether it be coins or quiet money, for LWML Mission Grants in the Ohio District and
throughout the world. Additional Mite Boxes and envelopes for your Mites can be found near the large Mite Box in the
narthex and the gym door. Mite gifts in May totaled $77.66. The next Mite Sunday is June 19. Please remember the
following LWML Mission Grant in your prayers:
OUTREACH in REFUGEE CAMPS—LEBANON
The Word of God is brought to Lebanon through Lutheran Hour Ministries—Lebanon, known locally as Middle East
Lutheran Ministry (MELM). This ministry began in Beirut in 1950 and it has continued to spread the message of salvation
in Jesus Christ throughout the region. LHM—Lebanon’s radio broadcasts reach at least ten Arabic-speaking countries with
the Gospel, Other opportunities to learn more about Jesus are through its Arabic-language Bible Correspondence Courses
(BCC), other print media, television programming, film shows and other events, a website, and text messages that are
available by subscription.
MELM also reaches out to struggling communities through vacation Bible schools and holistic programs that provide
clothing and school supplies for children. The MELM Center also provides holistic emergency care for people such as the
Syrian families and individuals who have sought refuge in Lebanon from the civil war in their homeland.
This LWML grant will support MELM in providing relief to the women and children in the refugee camps throughout
the Belkaa Valley region, with basic supplies, including food staples and hygiene kits so that they can live with dignity.
This ministry brings a long-term growth and expansion of the Gospel to destitute women and children living in those
refugee camps. This grant helps and supports this organization, which everyday gives new testimonies of Christian love.
