What began as a vision became a reality almost 15 years ago when New Jerusalem Christian Academy (NJCA) opened its doors in September 1996. Beginning as a preschool with 10 students and 2 teachers, NJCA now provides classes from K2 through 8th grade with 15 mem-bers in the faculty. Located on six acres of land in Seffner, our facilities include 15 classrooms in a two storied building with an impressive library/media center and a fully equipped science room.

Since its inception, NJCA has been firm in three areas: 1) Make the school affordable to the parents of our community. 2) Follow the traditional Christian approach of education; Christ is the center, the teacher is the authority and discipline is neces-sary to maintain appropriate teaching/learning environment. 3) Instill and maintain high academic standards.

We use the well-established Christian curriculum A BEKA for all our grades. Because we view reading as the foundation for good academics, we start at age two with the recognition of phonic sounds. Our K4 students can read (sound out) simple words and those in kindergarten are taught to read paragraphs of simple sentences. Reading continues to be important in the elementary grades, with an additional emphasis on arithmetic. Once in middle school, we key in on their writing skills. In 2008, NJCA incorporated a performing arts program including dance, art, music, band and drama. We recognize each child as a unique gift from God to each of his or her parents, and we pledge to always show God’s love with our words and deeds. We are also open during the summer offering a great summer camp program that is available to children, regard-less what school they attend, from ages 3 to 10.
