Greetings, Circle Members!

A Word from Your Senior Circle Advisor:What a wonderful celebration we had at our 6th Anniversary Party held this year at the Coatesville Country Club. Laura DelPercio, the Club Manager, made our party extra special. Our theme was “Friendship is Contagious”

and it truly was. A special thank you to Bill Simms, the Line Dancers, Dr. Chuma, our many local merchants, the Senior Circle Anniversary Committee (Thelma Hallman, Shirley Huntsinger, Julia Lavin, Karen Mendenhall, Ruthie Thomas, Jean Funk, Helen Thompson, Nancy Cox, Ann Hennessey, Carol Amole), and Brandywine Hospital for doing such a great job for us.

The 2008 Strawberry Festival, sponsored this year by Brandywine Hospital, was a huge success resulting in our best year ever! Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the various booths and also with the strawberry capping. We could not have been this successful without you!

We have many fun and exciting activities planned for the summer months. Look for “The Price is Right” with Rosemary, supper at the Brass Eagle along with “Concerts on the Square”, a day trip to Ocean City and special treats at our July and August birthday meetings.

We extend a warm welcome to our many new members. We look forward to sharing the Senior Circle spirit with all of you.Marianna

From Our CEO

Dear Senior Circle Members:

I have been hearing lots of good feedback from our Senior Circle members. Many of you have taken the time to share with me your positive experiences at Brandywine Hospital and your enthusiasm

over many of the changes we have made.

If you haven’t been to the hospital lately, you need to stop by to see our newly renovated cafeteria with a brighter look and expanded food options. If you are driving by, you will notice that we have placed brand-new, illuminated signs on the outside of the hospital to make it more visible from Route 30.

I am celebrating my 2nd-Year anniversary as CEO at Brandywine this August. It has been a busy couple years and I look forward to continuing to improve and grow the services of our hospital to meet the needs of our fast growing community.

Thanks for being part of the continued success of Brandywine Hospital. Our

Volunteer ProfileMeet Joe Damiani. Joe is a graduate of Saint Thomas Moore High School, in West Philadelphia, where he was a member of their football team. Football was a great part of his post-graduate years. He also coached in Southwest Philadelphia, Ardmore

and Saint Dennis Grammer School, as well as coaching at various public playgrounds. All this, while he worked as a bricklayer for The Union, and served as Union Treasurer!

As a Marine Reservist since 1948, Sgt. Damiani was called to serve with the 155th Howitzer Battalion, at Camp Lejune, in 1950. These reservists responded to replace over-seas-bound Marines.

The Damiani family has resided in the Coatesville area since 1994, when they moved from Ardmore. Family members include: three adult children, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grand-children—with a sixth due to arrive this summer!

Joe’s volunteer service began when Pam Streamer was Senior Circle Advisor, manning the Brandywine Hospital’s front desk each Monday. On Wednesday you can find him delivering newspapers and messages throughout the hospital. He also volunteers at the Veteran’s Hospital on Thursday, helping with the clothing donations, and distributions for the residents.

“I enjoy working puzzles, but volunteering is my real hobby,” he remarked, “and the Senior Circle Volunteer Program does a very good job for the hospital,” he concluded. (Contributed by Teddy Richter)
