There are five Journey into Nyx Prerelease Packs, one for each color. Each comes with a seeded booster pack that corresponds with that color. When registering for the Prerelease tournament, each player chooses a Prerelease Pack. The seeded booster pack will assist players in building a deck by providing a starting point in their chosen color. Each seeded booster pack contains a Journey into Nyx Prerelease promo card, which players may include in their tournament decks.

Journey into Nyx Prerelease Packs also include the seventh Hero card, which is used in the Hero’s Path. Hero cards are special cards that have a unique code on the back which

can be redeemed for a badge and achievement on PlaneswalkerPoints.com. Players should save their Hero cards to use against the “Defeat a God” Challenge Deck at Journey into Nyx Game Day.

Completing the “Forge a Godslayer” Activity Card— Component Stickers and Reward Stickers

Players will receive a Forge a Godslayer activity card in their Journey into Nyx Prerelease Packs. The Forge a Godslayer activity card is how players earn their fully-powered seventh Hero card while playing Magic™.

Players will receive component stickers as they complete matches. Different combinations of component stickers will lead to a reward sticker, an ability that players will place on their Hero Equipment cards.

Whenever two players complete a match, the winner chooses one of the three types of component stickers. The other player chooses from among the remaining two types. The last component sticker is discarded. Each group of three stickers comes on perforated sheets, so

distributing them to each table between rounds will help your event run smoothly.

When a player completes the activity card, that player receives a reward sticker to place on his or her Hero Equipment card based on the component stickers that player has collected (while supplies last).

Prerelease Events

Stores may run up to three events at Core level, or six at Advanced level. Future Prerelease product allocations are based on participation in these main events. You may run your events as Sealed Deck or Two-Headed Giant Sealed Deck at any time on April 26–27, 2014. Prereleases do not have side events.

Each player receives one Journey into Nyx™ Prerelease Pack of his or her choice (while supplies last).

Players may use the promo cards included in their Prerelease Packs in their sealed decks.

Event Information

The minimum deck size for Sealed Deck is 40 cards. Please allow players time to construct a deck. Newer players may need more time than experienced players, so allow at least 30 minutes for deckbuilding.

Sealed Deck—Each player receives 1 Journey into Nyx Prerelease Pack to build a deck.

Two-Headed Giant Sealed Deck—Each team of two players receives 2 Journey into Nyx Prerelease Packs to build decks (players may use cards from either pack in their decks; the colors do not need to be the same).

The tournament should be run Swiss-style with players of the same record playing each other. A single-elimination cut is optional, but not recommended. Wizards Event Reporter will handle all of the details for you.

Entry Fee and Prizes

Entry fees may include cost of player product and any additional prize support you wish to offer.

• Decide and announce the prize payout before the tournament begins.

• All free product provided to you must be given out over the course of your Prerelease events. We recommend a prize pool that contains a minimum of 2 boosters per player. You may give out additional Journey Into Nyx booster packs as prizes while your supplies last.

• We encourage you to add on other non-Journey Into Nyx prize support at your own discretion.

Other than your Prerelease prizes, no Journey into Nyx product may be used or given away until the official release date: May 2, 2014.

Open Dueling

Open Dueling is for newer players who may not be comfortable building a sealed deck. Open Dueling should be reported as casual play (player list only) in Wizards Event Reporter.

Open Dueling players each receive one Journey into Nyx™ Intro Pack.

Open Dueling players play against each other, as well as Prerelease tournament players who are between matches. All players should be encouraged to help teach Open Dueling participants how to play Magic™.
