나이 먹는다는 것은 어느 한 단어의 의미를 제대로 알아가는 여정이라 생각한다.

‘그린다’는 말의 의미를 이제 알 것 같다.

과거 얼마나 많은 관념적 사유와 틀에 나를 옭아매고 스스로의 예술을 부정하고 의심했던가!

그림은 그리는 것이다.

아무리 효과적인 테크놀로지를 차용하고 개념과 개념을 교배해서 한 관념으로 짜맞춘다 하더라도 거개는 요설(妖說)에 지나지 않았다.

삶의 구체성에 기인한 내용과 정수(精髓)를 고갈시킬 만큼의 순수한 육체적 노동에 의한 예술이 아니라면 그 진정성이 결여될 수밖에 없다.

나의 주변 모든 일상은 장엄한 경전이다.

일상적 주변을 일상 그 이상으로 볼 수 없을 때 삶은 부박해진다.

지는 노을이나 식탁에 놓인 빈 술잔이나 모두 경전이다.

‘너’와 ‘나’가 분절된 낱낱의 존재라면 우주는 무의미다. 신화도 없고 종교도 없고 따라서 당연히 삶도 없을 것이다.

그러나 바람 한줄기, 작은 풀씨하나 그리고 내 한숨과 너의 웃음이 촘촘한 인드라(Indra)의 구슬로 맞닿아 비추고 있으니

그 촘촘한 그물코의 연계성이 바로 경전이 되고 우주적인 서사구조가 되는 것이다.

그 경전은 독경(讀經)이 아닌 간경(看經)으로 읽어내야 한다,

나의 예술은 그 경전에 대한 간경 후기라 해도 틀리지 않다.

모든 일상이 은폐하고 있는 모든 사물과 현상에 대한 서사적 구조.

이것이야말로 나의 예술에 있어서 외부로부터의 미학적 관념, 지식 따위들을 일순에 파기시키고 유유자적하게 하는 원천이며

내 생명이 부지되고 있는 동안의 시간을 지극히 사랑할 수밖에 없게 만드는 이유라 할 것이다.

Growing old, I suppose, is a process of grasping a word.Now the true meaning of “drawing” seems to come up with an answer.How often was I trapped in ideological frame and denied and doubted art itself in the past.

Drawing is to draw something.However effective technology was borrowed and molded into an ideology by crossbreeding between concept and concept, it is no more than an overtalk.Unless it is the contents resulting from concreteness of life and purely laborious art evaporating the essence, it must be lacking in genuineness.

All my surrounding is an awe-inspiring Scripture.Life become shallow when we can’t see a daily routine more than what is.Sunset or an empty cup on the table are Scriptures

If ‘you’ and ‘I’ are a segmental being, universe is meaningless. No myth and no religion. therefore surely no life.

However, when a gust of wind, a tiny hayseed, my sigh and your laughter is reflected on a fine Indra bead, the finely mesh of a net is connected with the Scripture and universal Narrative structure.The Scripture should be read not with sound but with eyes.My art may be the epilogue to the Scripture.Narrative structure to object and phenomenon concealing a daily routine. This is why in my art world these are my aesthetic idea from outside and resources destroying knowledge in a moment and reason to cherish my life time.
