PDI Blocks:Trafficade adds the PDI Block to their protection equipment arsenal.

Trafficade Work Zone Services is ex-cited to offer a new line of protection for the public. PDI Blocks are a new, aesthetically pleasing way to restrict vehicles and provide pedestrian pro-tection at your next event or gath-ering. PDI Blocks, with their visually appealing design, are an effective way to protect the public vs. tradition-al concrete barrier or other barricade systems.

Some of the highlights of the PDI Block include:

- 1,370 lbs. per block- 3’ Height with a 2.5’ Base- Designed with high compressive

strength concrete- Easily delivered and picked up by

Trafficade- Placement can be handled on-site

with custom PDI Blocks All Terrain Pallet Jack.

PDI Blocks are designed with the safe-ty of the general public in mind. At the most recent presidential visit to the great state of Arizona, the PDI Blocks were utilized to help protect the pub-lic and surrounding equipment being used at the event.

Trafficade has added the PDI Blocks to our line of equipment to help pro-tect the area of an event, or to help prevent vehicles from entering into a large crowd, while still allowing for the flow of pedestrians throughout the event area. Not only are they built with special events in mind, but they can also be used for road closures, sidewalk protection, building pro-tection, crowd control, and security of temporary events equipment or personnel.

The addition of the PDI Blocks increas-es Trafficade’s ability to continue to provide our customers with Prompt, Dependable & Friendly service and be recognized as the leaders and experts in the industries that we serve.

Safety Spotlight: Scorpion TMAWhen Trafficade entered into its partnership with TrafFix Devices Inc. over 2 years ago, we knew it would have an impact on the safety of our clients. A truck mounted attenuator (TMA) is specifically design to absorb a vehicle’s kinetic energy, and is ultimately intended to reduce the damage to vehicles, motorists and protect the employees within a work zone.

Well, that is exactly what occurred on a recent project being conducted on one of the local freeways right here in the Phoenix metro area.

On a normal working day in sunny Arizona, a car traveling at a high rate of speed ran directly into the TrafFix Scorpion pad mounted to the back of a Trafficade TMA truck. At the rate of speed this accident occurred, this could have been a fatal and tragic occurrence. Fortunately, because of the proper set-up and use of the Scorpion TMA, the driver of the car and their passenger were lucky enough to only sustain minor injuries, and the driver of the Trafficade TMA sustained no injuries. Most importantly, there were no injuries or damage caused to the construction workers, the general public driving on the freeway next to the work zone, and everyone present in the work zone. The TrafFix Scorpion TMA unit saved many lives this day.

Even with the extensive damage that was caused to the Scorpion unit, there was no dam-aged caused to the Trafficade TMA truck. After this incident, Trafficade was able to remove the damaged Scorpion pad and replace it with a new one, and the Trafficade TMA truck was then able to be put back into service.

As it states on the TrafFix website; “The Scorpion line of Impact Attenuators, from TrafFix Devices, are truly “different by design”.”

The Scorpion TMA consists of strut and cartridge sections that are linked together on a support frame. The curved side rails are made from corrosion resistant aluminum tubes, which offer full width impact protection along the entire length of the unit. The side rails were designed to re-direct errant vehicles away from the rear of the truck (coffin corner).

Trafficade’s Yuma Office is off to a great start

The official open date of the Trafficade Yuma branch was 3/10, and in less than one year, the Yuma branch has had an amazing introduction to the Yuma marketplace. We have gained momentum with some great partnerships in the Yuma community and the overall workload that has the entire state of Arizona busy with infrastructure projects.

Our Yuma operations are headed up by Santos Vega, and he has truly hit the ground running. The branch offers full traffic control and barricade service to fit any need, a fully operational shoring depart-ment and a Signs & Sales showroom in their front lobby. When talking to Santos he talks about how welcoming the Yuma community has been. He says “not only have we opened our doors in Yuma, the Yuma contractors and municipalities have opened their doors to us.” We have had some great success in our package offering with barricades and shoring, but ultimately it is the Trafficade team delivering results on the road. Santos has built a solid team that is committed to providing the Trafficade Way of Prompt, Dependable & Friendly service to our clients. “The commitment of our crews to deliver the Trafficade Way has been the number 1 factor in our success” Santos continued by saying, “and with the team that surrounds me down here in Yuma, and the support of our owners, Jeff, Dennis and Sue Johnson, this has been a very fun challenge to get the Yuma branch off the ground.” This opportunity to expand and reach a new market was something that excited Trafficade. Jeff Johnson and the Trafficade team saw the chance to move into the Yuma market and didn’t take long to pursue this opportunity. Jeff talked about the fact we had someone ready to get on board with this expansion so quickly; “Santos raised his hand to start a new office from the ground up, and I knew with his drive and commitment to Trafficade that he was the right guy for the job. I couldn’t be any happier with the way Santos jumped on this opportu-nity and made things happen so quickly.”

The success of our Yuma branch doesn’t come without some amazing partnerships that are already blossoming into a long term business partnerships. The Yuma construction communities meet us with open arms, and our first partnering projects have been very successful. After a lot of introductory meetings and even more conversations about Trafficade working together with the Yuma construction community, it has become very clear that we all have the same philosophy when it comes to getting the job done right.

The long term goal of the Yuma branch is the same as it is for all of our Trafficade branches throughout Arizona. We will continue to provide Prompt, Dependable & Friendly service and be your partner in the work zone.

Vendor Spotlight: Ozark Materials, LLC.

Employee Spotlight: Jesus Duarte and Trafficade’s Diamondbacks Traffic Control Team

Jesus Duarte is a key asset to keep Traf-ficade moving our operational team towards success on a daily basis with his integral role as operations manager for our barricade divisions across the state of Arizona. The work ethic and dedication that Jesus brings to Traf-ficade has earned him an Employee Spotlight in this issue of the Trafficade Flash. Jesus has been with Trafficade for 14 years and has played many roles within the company. Jesus currently oversees the entire operational team, including our production crews, equipment inventory, fleet, drivers, and all of our upcoming workload needs. He also acts as a special event supervisor, field supervisor, safety co-ordinator, and many other functions… to say the least, he has his hands in a little bit of everything when it comes to getting the job done for Trafficade.

Jesus is no stranger to working hard, and it has helped him work his way up in the company. As is the case with many long term employees, he has performed many different job func-tions. Jesus says “I started off as a barri-cade setter, then became a supervisor, worked in the Signs and Sales division doing installs, became the quality control manager and ultimately made my way into the operations manager role.” To say that Jesus is there to step up and help out whenever the need may arise is an understatement. Geo Gutierrez, Customer Service Repre-sentative says, “Jesus always seems to have a way, or even find a way to make projects happen. He has been instrumental in the development and success of some our top clients with his attention to detail, and always see-ing things from multiple perspectives to ensure that the project is delivered.” Dave Heiman, Business Development Manager states, “I always see Jesus doing whatever is needed to deliver a successful project. From making sure we have the equipment ready, to co-ordinating with multiple departments, or making sure he has a full under-standing of the job that needs to get done. Everyone here at Trafficade says nothing but great things about Jesus and what he brings to the table day in and day out.”

What Jesus enjoys about working at Trafficade is being a part of the Traffi-cade family. “The chance to work with so many different people and never knowing what each day might bring, it makes for a very exciting career. I can truly say there is never a dull moment.”

Jesus comes with an impressive resume but more importantly comes from a strong family and work ethic. He has been married to his lovely wife Erica Duarte for 18 years and they have 3 beautiful children; Ethan, Evan and Elan. Jesus says that he couldn’t do what he does without the support and love from his family. “They really are the best things that have ever happened to me. I couldn’t do this without them.”

Jesus Duarte is looking forward to the future of Trafficade, and is excited to be a part of this company. “Being able to work at a family owned company, and knowing that they truly care about their employees, it makes it much easier and a lot of fun to come to work every day. The Johnson family has provided so much to me and everyone at Trafficade, they offer so much opportunity to their employees, I’m very happy that I get to be a part of this great organization.”

100 Club of Arizona:Trafficade Service, Inc. had the honor of attending the annual Schechterle Gala for the 100 Club of Arizona. This event is focused on building awareness and helping to fund the assistance programs for families of first responders that are injured or killed in the line of duty. The 100 Club of Arizona is cele-brating 50-years of backing the badge and is dedicated to continued support of the men and women who service the statewide public safety agencies, officers, firefighters, EMT/Paramedics and their families. Trafficade wants to thank the 100 Club of Arizona for all they do to help support those members of the public safety community and all they do to help keep us safe.

Diamondbacks Traffic Control Team As the Arizona Diamondbacks closed out the 2018 season, it was also the end of D-Backs Ballpark Crew going above and beyond to make sure the fans could get into and out of the stadium with the help of Trafficade. Our D-Backs Traffic Control Crew con-sists of six dedicated and hardwork-ing team members: Richard Villegas (Crew Leader), Adan Parra, Andres Montelongo, Salvador Orozco, Pedro Navarrete, and Gabriel Ortiz.

These six gentleman know the down-town Phoenix area like the back of their hands when it comes to baseball season. Working closely with the City of Phoenix streets department, police department, Arizona Diamondbacks, and many others, this Trafficade crew delivered the prompt, dependable & friendly service that Trafficade prom-ises. When asked, the City of Phoenix teams members state: “We had zero issue this entire season… ZERO.” They also said that: “Traffic control was the one thing we never had to worry about when it was game time. Richard and the entire crew always delivered. It makes our jobs that much easier to do.”

When you ask our own internal Traffi-cade management team, you hear the

same comments. Jose Gutierrez (City of Phoenix Customer Service Repre-sentative) says: “It’s so nice to know that the ballpark will be done correct-ly every single game, all season long. It makes my meetings with the City that much smoother.” Jesus Duarte (Operations Manager) states: “This crew works so well together, and can almost read each other minds on what they need to do, it makes for planning this 6-7 month season go by fast… sometimes, too fast.”

Trafficade has worked with the City of Phoenix for over 15-years and just recently extended their citywide traf-fic control services, including Chase Field’s traffic control. Jeff Johnson knows how important the ballpark is to the City contract and also knows how nice it is to have a crew be recognized for their performance. “When I hear the compliments from my operations team, and from the City directly, I know we have the right guys on the job.” Jeff continues: “Knowing that the job is being done right, and being delivered prompt, dependable & friendly is what has made Trafficade what it is today. This group of hard working gentleman help make that vision a reality.”

Trafficade looks forward to the con-tinued success at the ballpark and our continued partnership with the City of Phoenix.
