Job Description: Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach
The Men’s Assistant Basketball coach shall be appointed by the Board of Trustees upon the
recommendation of the President. The salary and term of employment shall be fixed by the
Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the President. This position reports to the Head
Men’s Basketball Coach and the Dean of Student Services.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required, playing and coaching experience is preferred.
Description:
Duties include assisting with coaching and recruiting, academic monitoring/advising, and
supervision of men's dorm. The dorm supervisor must reside in the dorm. This is a part-time,
exempt position (10 month contract) covered by the Public Education Employee Retirement
System of Missouri (PEERS) and social security.
The Men’s Assistant Basketball coach shall:
1. Assist the Greyhounds and Greyhound basketball programs;
2. Perform duties as assigned by the Athletic Director on and off the court;
3. Monitor academic progress of the players;
4. Attend regular basketball practices;
5. Assist with recruiting players for purposes of attending college and playing basketball;
6. Assist with study halls when requested;
7. Adhere to policies and regulations as outlined in Policy Handbook;
8. Obtain a CDL driver's license as needed;
9. Reside in the Dormitory on a full-time basis and abide by the rules and regulations as
outlined in the Moberly Area Community College Housing Handbook, unless otherwise
agreed by the College President;
10. Assist dorm residents to adjust to dormitory life by coordinating dorm activities as approved
by the President's Administrative Council;
11. Be familiar with the Moberly Area Community Housing Handbook and dormitory
regulations;
12. Supervise dormitory residents and enforce the dormitory regulations as stated in the Moberly
Area Community College Housing Handbook;
13. Assist with the opening and closing activities of the dormitory in cooperation with the
Housing Coordinator;
14. Inspect room conditions per the Housing Handbook guidelines;
15. Assist the Housing Coordinator with room assignments and key distribution;
16. Be in the dormitory area daily or ensure that the Resident Assistant is on duty during
absence;
17. Communicate with the Housing Coordinator any known dates or times you will be absent
from the dormitory on weekends, holidays, college breaks, etc;

18. Report any violations of the Housing Handbook policy to the Housing Coordinator or if a
more serious situation occurs, contact the Dean of Student Services;
19. Provide written documentation for violations of the Housing Handbook policy listing person
involved, date and time of the incident and any other documentation deemed necessary;
20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Student Services, Athletic Director, Head
Coach, or the President of the College or person designated by the President.
