JKay Deluxe framework The Deluxe framework is a modified version of the original android framework made by Google and Samsung. Five files have been extended: Settings.apk, SystemUI.apk, framework-res.apk, Ext.jar and Android.Policy.jar Find the framework that matches your PDA: To find your PDA version call *#1234# and write down the value next to PDA: Go to the download site and download the Deluxe framework that matches. Odexed or Deodexed? If you use a stock Samsung rom then your phone uses an odexed framework so select odexed. Custom roms are usually deodexed. Odex means Optimized Dalvik Executable. Deodex means that it is no longer optimized. Here the dex file is included within the application itself (the classes.dex file).

Page 7: JKay Deluxe 14.9

7

Deluxe framework version 14 can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?6n1bkthe77dd5 Download the new Deluxe framework and put it on your SD card. Also download the Restore file for your phone and put it onto your SD card. Use this restore file in case you want to uninstall the JKay Deluxe framework. The Deluxe framework can be installed using CWM (ClockworkMod Recovery). CWM is a recovery system like Samsungs original recovery system but CWM allows third-party updates to be installed onto your phone! An CWM update zip file exists that can be temporary installed using Samsungs original recovery. This means that neither a custom kernel nor root is required to install JKay Deluxe framework! There are also kernels with CWM included but here we will use this CWM to install the JKay Deluxe framework.

Edit quick launch panel The quick launch panel is a panel of shortcuts to applications that can be accessed from the notification bar. This speeds up the access to them since it is possible from any application and lock screen to drag down the notification bar and launch an application. There can be up to 12 shortcuts to applications plus the 4 power actions: reboot, recovery, download and power off. The reason for not having more than 12 shortcuts is that they must fit onto 2 pages with 6 shortcuts on each page. If there are more pages then you would have to start searching for your application shortcut and then it would no longer be a quick panel!

Page 31: JKay Deluxe 14.9

31

If you long press on an entry in the list to select a new shortcut to an application then a list of all applications installed on the phone will be shown. Select an application and that application will replace whatever was on that entry. It is not possible to replace the 4 power actions with application shortcuts! To change the order of application shortcuts on the panel, please press menu key and hit ‘unselect all’, then select the application shortcuts from the list in the order you want them. Only those with a checkmark next to them will be shown on the panel!

Page 32: JKay Deluxe 14.9

32

Set status bar options Here you control what should be shown on the status bar and notification panel. You also select how it should be shown!

Show quick settings panel If checked then the Quick settings panel is shown when you drag down the notification panel.

Show brightness panel If checked then the brightness panel is shown when you drag down the notification panel. The brightness panel consists of an icon and a slider to control the screen brightness. The icon tells you what brightness value will be controlled if you move the slider. There are 6 different values that the slider can control. One for manual brightness and 5 values for the 5 levels of auto-brightness: 1) Auto-brightness lowest value is used when light sensor says lux value is less than 15 (level 1) 2) Auto-brightness low value if lux >15 and < 150 (level 2)

Page 33: JKay Deluxe 14.9

33

3) Auto-brightness mid value if lux >150 and < 1500 (level 3) 4) Auto-brightness high value if lux >1500 and less than 15000 (level 4) 5) Auto-brightness highest value if lux>15000 (level 5) Each level is converted to a value between 1 and 255. That value is the value used to set the brightness of the screen. The default values are: 40, 110, 160, 220 and 255. And dim screen has the value 20. And if power saving is enabled then screen brightness can be set to 10. But the auto-brightness slider is made so you don’t have to think about numbers. You simply adjust the brightness using the slider until you find it looks good in current light conditions. The 5 auto-brightness icons look like this:

Page 34: JKay Deluxe 14.9

34

So the slider adjusts only the screen brightness value for the auto-brightness level detected by the light sensor. The slider goes from 5 to 255. This way you only need to adjust the screen so it looks good at the current light level. Eventually all 5 levels will look good on your screen. This is useful because not all screens are equal in brightness. So some people might adjust it up a bit while others may want to adjust it down… either to save battery or if the screen is too bright!

Show quick launch panel If checked then the quick launch panel is shown below the quick settings panel and below the Brightness panel (if visible). The quick launch panel can be used to launch applications directly from the notification panel. Tip: Add Settings.apk to the launch panel. If you press Settings.apk then you can get to settings quickly. If you long press application icons on the launch panel then Deluxe Settings will be launched.

Page 35: JKay Deluxe 14.9

35

shows the date and the clear button for removing notifications. If the carrier label panel is hidden then the date will be shown on the drag bar.

Show quickbutton text If checked then the text below the quick buttons is visible. If not the there is more room for notifications.

Auto collapse statusbar If checked then the notification bar will automatically be hidden after a quick settings button has been pressed.

Page 36: JKay Deluxe 14.9

36

options applies to both the quick settings panel and the quick launch panel.
