Research Institute of Japan
The Research Institute of Japan was established as an affiliated organization of Jiji Press in December 1954 with the aim of fostering well-informed and fair public opinion. Its members include business leaders and officials of governmental and nongovernmental institutions.
Holding lectures and offering various kinds of documents, the institute works to help members to improve their knowledge and gain a better understanding of domestic and international affairs.
Annually, it holds 10 national meetings in Tokyo and the same number at each of its 151 local branches, inviting prominent guest speakers from a wide range of sectors, for a total of approximately 1,500 gatherings.
Guest speakers include the prime minister and other influential politicians, leaders of major business organizations, ambassadors to Japan and heads of local governments.
