INTRODUCTION Organization Study basically refers to the study that relate to find out the real functioning of an organization through personal visiting to the various departments of that organization and also by visiting the organization various operating plants. The study includes meeting and interviews with various departments heads and also the staff in each department. The main purpose of this study lies in knowing more about the structure, policies, programs and functions of an organization by applying the theory into practice. It is really a practical experienced, knowledge based study. 3. This organization study has been conducted in Kerala Kaumudi (P) Ltd. Kerala Kaumudi, the greatest growing Malayalam daily, owes its genesis in 1911, to the visionary, Shri C V Kunjuraman. Kerala Kaumudi became a daily news paper on 1st November 1940. From its humble beginning as a single edition news paper of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala Kaumudi has spread out to cover other parts of the state and the country with editions from Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Cochin, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Kannur, Bangalore and Gulf. 4. SCOPE OF THE STUDY The Organization Study on at Kerala Kaumudi (P) Ltd offers great scope to Kerala Kaumudi (P) Ltd in some areas where they are considered weak. The scope of the study also extends to other media companies and future researchers. The study helps in bridging gap between the theory and practice of management. 5. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY To identify the functions, duties, responsibilities and maintenance of each departments. To verify how far the organization structure is successful in accomplishing the objectives of Kerala Kaumudi (P) Ltd To determine the factors that influence readers. To suggest measurers to improve the circulation of Kerala Kaumudi daily. . 6. To know news preference. To know the opinion of readers about various reports. To analyze the buyers opinion about the price and quality of the particulars product 7. LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY An in-depth study was not possible because the time limit was the main constraint. Since Kerala Kaumudi (P) Ltd, is a private sector company, access to some important information was restricted. This made some difficulties during the time of analysis. Financial constrains were one of the limitations. Some of the respondents are not ready to give opinion. 8. Industry Profile 9. Findings Kerala kaumudi is one of the most leading newspaper in kerala. Company has to frame more Marketing and sales promotion strategies. Company lacks a good research and development team. Circulation Department has limited subscription plans. The core department of a print media is Editorial Department. It lacks adequate automation and modernization. Space Marketing Department requires more office equipment's and communication facilities. Kerala Kaumudi website is not included the company history, vision, motto, mile stones, social responsibilities etc. Each department performs their routine work well, but these departments activities are not well coordinated to a time bound mission. 22. Suggestions Implement TQM strategy-Improve the quality of the organizations processes, products, services through continuous improvement in all senses. Company has to frame more Market Communication Strategies. Also more market penetration strategies are to be framed To implement Management by Objectives (MBO). Introducing two designations: R&D manager and manager responsible for the overall planning and implementation of marketing communication of Kerala Kaumudi products. To existing subscription plans, introduce short-term and flexible subscription plans 23. Establish and maintain circulation lead by satisfying customer needs better than the competitors through value added products- that would be the motto of product marketing department. HR department must encourage and develop an organization culture where innovate ideas are freely exchanged Editorial department needs to be modernized. Marketing department must be ensured with enough office equipment and other communication devices. The internal communication of marketing department must be improved. Ensure that all department staffs are provided with enough equipment and facilities around them. 24. CONCLUSION Media has a strong role in nation- builing. People would always want news, but it should be packaged well according to the changing needs of the society. Newspapers have to address all sections of the readership to stay in the business. Todays communication is more complex. Competitors are coming up with more products and increased sales promotion strategies. Customers tastes and preference, life style and quality of life are changing. As the digital tide gathers strength, it is remarkable that the press in print continues to be the media of preference for the majority of readers who want to remain informed. In the midst of these changes, newspapers are alive and well and exhibiting enormous innovation and energy to maintain their place as the news media of preference for hundreds of millions of people daily. 25.
