IKEA Singapore’s YOUNG DESIGNER AWARD 2015

“Bedside tables are unsung heroes of the night, keeping your books, alarm clock and glass of water within reach.” FL4T is a bedside table designed to have the ability to not only have the 4 main items which are essential to ensure a good night, it also has the ability to ensure the table is neat empty in the day, This helps save space too as in Singapore space in the bedroom would definitely be treasured. Due to scientific study that mess is directly related to stress, FL4T is designed to prevent this to ensure a good morning and great night. WPC (Wood plastic composite) will be the material for FL4T, as it is a sustainable material and at the same time water and rot resistant & easy to manufacture other materials include polyester powder coating, Steel and as for the clothe for the book/magazine holder and lamp shade, it would be the same material as the ones in IKEA so as to enable the furniture to be able to match with the other IKEA furniture. FL4T can also be separated into 7 parts for easy assembly and can be flat packed for easy transportation.

GUNGaThis chair was insipired by a childhood memory of swings, the aim of this swing is to bring the user a fun & relaxing experience. This chair is to be used by anyone in the family from the parents to the kids.

Project brief for this project was to incorperate design language of chosen company ( Casio Rugged ) into an electronic appliance ( co�ee machine ) .

GYROCLOCKThis is a desk clock that is designed to have a unique way of telling time. The faces of the desk clock are deliberately made of paper, this is to allow consumer to draw and customizing it, This serves as a product that encourages spending time with the family, as the childeren can draw on the face and give it to the parent as a present, at the same time this reminds the parent of their family when in the office.

The studio is a place to inspire and we hope to inspire. From gathering data through surveys and observations, we have learnt new insights. The long hours spent in stalking and follow the footsteps of the users study, we could draw out several user journey maps to further understand their needs. After we look around us for inspiration, NTU site visit brings us closer to the future, having design put forth before us. Inspiring us that a SMART classroom is possible and we could do it too, the drive that pushes us to look into more current products around the world. Having new insight and valueable knowledge, we translate it into our sketches and ideas.

Through rating and filtering the ideas, we came up with an impeccable studio set-up. Finally, we sort out concepts being fine tuned and placed in a 3D environment. We produced a VIRTUAL model that is able translate our idea to our user. This sums up our reseach and ideas which we have brainstormed during the process.

INTERNATIONAL studentworkshop 2014

During this trip in OSAKA JAPAN, international students worked together with japanese students tocome out with products which modernised a material which was commonly used only in traditional products ( traditional dyeing CHUSEN ) and as these companies wanted to branch out into thecurrent market they apporoached this workshop for solutions , hence we had to come out with ways to implement this material into either new products or brand new products which could solve this issue. Which we presented to the companies at the end of the workshop, the group I was in even won2nd place!
