Acknowledgement would not be an acknowledgement without saying this simple phrase to people
who became a part of my journey as a student teacher.

giving us specific instructions on what this requirement would be like. Thanks to my classmates,
BBTE 4-1 for sticking with me all throughout the practicum hours, for constantly reminding me
of the things I have to submit, for orienting me, and for the acceptance you have shown me. I have
never felt that I'm new to them. Thanks for treating me that way.
Thanks for my supportive parents, for giving me another chance, for helping me with my
take home loads to get things done. For trusting me and motivating me to finish my degree.
Of course, to my fellow student teachers at Cielito Zamora High School. They are the
people I'm going to miss. Thank you Ruselle, Sanrio, Nikko and Neo for the moments we've
shared. I learned a lot from you guys too. You are awesome in many, many ways. You guys are
the best!
Well, what's practice teaching if there's no cooperating teacher? I am so blessed to have a
CT like Mrs. Jocelyn J. Mier, I call her Ma'am Mier. She's really nice and very helpful. All the bits
and pieces of teaching you've told me, the jokes, the principles, the values, everything you've
taught me is very essential for the path I have chosen. Thanks for setting a good example to me,
for being professional, effective, competent, and supportive. I wonder why she was able to carry
all those traits only to find out that she's also a PUPian.
And what is a teacher without his or her students? I am so grateful with my students. I
strongly believe in individual differences. And that differences among my students is like a melody
that completes the song that I have to know before entering into the real world of teaching. I know
they learned from me but the bottom line here is that I also learned from them, a lot! Thank you
so much Celitians for bringing out the best in me in that 300 hours of stay in your school and this
is not the end.
To my creator, my Lord, and my Savior, apart from you I can do nothing. To you I give all
the glory, honor and praise. Thank you so much for guiding me in everything I do and for giving

This compilation is for the benefit of those who aspire to be an educator.
This portfolio serves a guide about the scenarios, challenges, real life adventures of being a
student teacher. Each part of this requirement would somehow help the readers to reflect about
their preparedness in undergoing the practice teaching. The details included in this portfolio aims
to express how challenging, yet fulfilling a teacher’s job is.

II. Prayer of Pre-service Teacher ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear God,
Thank you for all the blessings you have given me and for lavishing me your love. Thank
you because you never failed to wake us up every morning, to give us another chance, another
opportunity to experience your goodness. Forgive me for all the sins I have done and continue to
cleanse me and change me to be the person that you wanted me to be. I pray because I have faith
and confidence in you.
I entrust you the career I have chosen and for bringing me this far, yet getting closer to
achieve my dream you have given me. I acknowledge that apart from you I am equivalent to
nothing that’s why I ask you to be with me in everything I do as a teacher, in big things and small
things, guide me and give me wisdom on how to deliver things.
Let every word I say be a seed of transformation. Make me a vessel of knowledge, wisdom,
and understanding. Show me things that I have to see as a teacher. May my ears be keen in listening
to hear the important unspoken words. May I be sensitive to the needs of my students. Give me
strength for my everyday challenges and lead me at times of confusion. May I be careful and
prudent with my decisions. Anoint my lips and the works of my hands. Let every class or section
I handle be peaceful and disciplined. Let the four corners of each classroom will be a hedge of
protection for me and my students. I pray that you’ll give me more patience and a spirit of
endurance. I ask for boldness in discussing the lessons and may I be an effective teacher. Mold in
me the characters that a teacher must have. Continue to teach me the beauty of building
connections or friendship towards faculty members and students.
May I always consider the name of the University I am carrying and hope to live up with
that name. Help me to be mindful of my actions and words. Let my practices always be pleasing.
I know that the things I have to perform for this practicum is just a preparation for the real
world I have to enter. Thank you God for this opportunity to learn, to grow and to be prepared with
things I have to do in the future. Continue Oh Lord to inject creativity in me and let every activity
I’ll do relating to this practice teaching will be a blessing.
Let passion, dreams, love and concern be the main ingredients of my teaching. Help me
Oh Lord to influence my students to study and learn. Let every meeting be a two-way
communication. May I remain humble for every achievement and be not envious with the success
of others, instead take it as a challenge or inspiration to elevate what I already have.

One of the values that Cielito Zamora High School T.K.M. Program capitalizes is the spirit
of “Malasakit” (That’s the third word for the acronym). As a teacher you should not only possess
the skills, the competencies, or other credentials, you should have the compassion, care and
concern for your fellow teachers, for the students and for the school. Embedding the principles
below will help you establish good relationship in whatever group, firm or department that you are
into.
NOTE: Below are the items of a Student Teacher’s creed. Read the following statements slowly
and attentively and reflect if you are able to adhere to them.
If you open it, close it.
If you turn it on, turn it off.
If you unlock it, lock it.
If you break it, repair it.
If you can’t fix it, report it.
If you use it, don’t abuse it.
If you make a mess, clean it up.
If you move it, put it back.
If you lost it, replace it.
If you don’t know how to use it, leave it alone.
If it belongs to somebody else and you want to use it, ask permission
before taking it.
And if it doesn’t concern you don’t mess with it.
If you’re going to look at every passage in this creed, they are very simple and straight
forward but neglecting these things would really cause you to trouble, misunderstanding and
division. Even the scriptures in Luke 6:31 tells us “Treat others the same way you want them to
treat you.”

Personal Education Philosophy ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For a moment, let’s just forget the isms of Education. Here are fourteen (14) great words
of wisdom coming from random people that I tried to reflect and apply in my practice teaching.
1. You cannot change what you tolerate.
2. The difference between a good day and bad day is your attitude.
3. If you don’t value it, you won’t act for it.
4. A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
5. What you get by achieving your goals is not nearly as important as what you become by
achieving your goals.
6. To be inspired is great, but to inspire is incredible
7. Life is a gift. Never forget to enjoy and bask in every moment you are in.
8. It takes your ability to get there, and it takes your attitude to keep you there.
9. The struggle you are in today will develops the strength you need for tomorrow.
10. Tough times don’t last. Tough people do.
11. Wrong thing is still a wrong thing even if everybody’s doing it. The right thing is still a
right thing even if you’re the only one doing it.
12. Live more, complain less. More smiles, less stress. Less hate more blessed.
13. Outstanding people have one thing in common: An absolute sense of mission.
14. Great achievement is usually born of great sacrifice, and is never the result of selfishness.

IV. Personal Insights on the
Pre-service Training Experience ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“We teach ourselves as we teach others.” I’d like to start this portion with that quote I saw
on the wall of Cielito Zamora High Schools’ TLE Department. That’s the first thing that struck
my being the first time I entered that faculty room. I know there’s a deep sense of truth in that
short phrase I saw but I can’t fully grasp its meaning. Not until I had my first two weeks of my
practice teaching. As I go through each day of my classes, as a teacher, you are not just a channel
of wisdom, but you are also a recipient of a lot of learnings, learnings that you’ll realized as you
impart knowledge to your students. I would be lying if I say that teaching is an easy profession.
We all know that it’s a noble profession. It is not an easy job and it will never be.
There are so many challenges I encountered during my stay in Cielito Zamora High School.
One of the greatest challenge I had is to teach a topic that is not my cup of tea. Who would have
thought that I would have to educate the students about Beauty Care? “Seriously???” that’s the
question that I had in mind. I’m sure you are now making fun of me as you read this but let me
redeem myself. As a teacher, or should I say, as a “Modern Teacher,” you’ve got to be flexible.
You should always be ready going outside your comfort zone. Teaching nail care is one of the best
example of it for a male teacher like me. But I accepted the challenge, the “everyday challenge.”
But I believe that you have to love what you’re doing and you never have to work. Meaning, you
have to put yourself into it, you have to have that passion for whatever things you’re doing to be
an effective teacher. It’s like selling something that you really like and it would be more convincing
for others if they know you like it. Teaching is like that. Your students would know if you fake
things or if you really love what you’re showing them.
I had a lot of realizations when I got into practice teaching, one of them are the loads of the
teachers. Teaching is not just about discussing lessons, giving quizzes, exams and projects. If you
will wear their shoes for one week, if you’re not into it, you’ll give up… Because it’s very difficult,
that is why I salute all the teachers who do their jobs with integrity, passion, creativity, with
responsibility and with their hearts on it.
Next thing are the students. Individual differences really do exist. I have witnessed how
hard it is to handle students with different personalities. If we’ll talk about problems, that’s
approximately 50 problems each section. But let’s not focus on the negative side. If you’ll be able
to influence those students correctly, you have to congratulate yourself for a job well done.

V. Brief Description of the Site
of Practice Teaching ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cielito Zamora High School was called as ‘Camarin High School Cielito Zamora Annex’
before. It is located in the heart of Cielito Homes and Cristina Homes, Caloocan City. It is barely
15-minute drive from Novaliches proper. It is specifically situated in front of barangay 177.
It was establish in 1986 with Mrs. Adoracion Ramirez as the principal. There were three
levels, the first year, second year and third year. It had a total enrolment of 306 with eight
teachers. The students were housed in a four room building in the same campus where the
elementary building was situated. It was constructed by Mr. and Mrs. Zamora and was donated
to Caloocan government. The students did not have a place to rest and relax, and most of all, no
library to study and research during free time.
The enrolment had increased to 17.32 percent with 10 teachers with complete high school
from First year to Fourth year. The high school stayed in the elementary compound for five
years. Mrs. Adoracion Ramirez was the principal from the year 1986-1991. From 1991-1994
Mrs. Lucila de Guzman was the principal. The year 1991 was a lucky year for the students and
teachers. It was the same year that the new Head Teacher was assigned in the person of Mrs.
Clarita Martinz. Although the school had the building, it still lacked facilities like library,
canteen and playground where the students should stay and held their activities.
With the collaborated efforts of Mrs. De Guzman and Mrs. Martinez the new building
was constructed in the eastern part of Cristina Homes. Mrs. Fornoles was assigned as the new
principal, it was on October 3, 1993 when the third and fourth year students were moved to the
new building. Mrs. Marinez transferred to Pangarap High School and Mr. Victoria was appointed
as the new School Head in November 1996. With his initiative, the first building was named
Rizal, occupied by the First and Second year students while the Bonifacio Building was occupied
by the Third and Fourth Year students.
Mr. Tirso R. Dela Cruz was now the present principal of CIelito Zamora High School.
And Cielito before was divided into two, annex I (Rizal Campus today) which is the main
campus and annex II (Bonifacio Campus).

To adorn the nail;
To disguise stained nails;
To add temporary strength to weak nails; and
To coordinate with the clothes or make-up.
THINGS TO REMEMBER BEFORE APPLYING NAIL POLISH
If there are diseases and disorders of the nail plate and surrounding skin.
If the client is allergic to nail enamel.
If nails are short or bitten. It should be painted only with the nail enamels to avoid attracting
attention.

DIFFERENT BASIC NAIL DESIGNS
1. Plain Manicure
Steps in Plain Manicure
1. Apply base coat.
2. Apply two coats of polish.
Use light long strokes from nail base to free edge.
Apply polish to the middle of the nail first and then to the sides.
Repeat second coat of polish to both hands.
Remove excess polish around nail with a cotton tipped orangewood stick.
3. Apply top coat. Apply a top coat over the entire nail plate.

Steps in giving Half-moon Nail Design
1. Apply base coat.
2. Apply white or platinum nail polish and leave for a few minutes to dry.
3. Apply colored polish from one side to the other side of the nail following the shape of
lunula. Repeat the application of the nail polish if necessary.
4. Remove excess polish from the skin.
5. Apply top coat.

Steps in giving Half-moon with Tip Nail Design
1. Apply base coat.
2. Apply white or platinum nail polish and leave for a few minutes to dry.
3. Apply colored nail polish from one side to the other side of the nail to form a half-
moon, leaving the lunula of the nail.
4. Leave the part of the free edge. The free edge should be seen.
5. Repeat the application of nail polish if necessary.

1. Apply base coat and leave for a few minutes to dry.
2. Apply white or platinum nail polish and leave for a few minutes to dry.
3. With the use of white or colored nail polish, draw a thin line over the tip of the nail
following the shape of the free edge of the nail. Apply second coating, if necessary.
4. Remove excess polish.
5. Apply top coat.

2. Apply colored nail polish creating a half- circle design at the inner side of the nail as
you continue it to form S-like.

5. Seal with a top coat.

Nail design adds beauty, color, elegance, fun, inspiration, glamour, and style. It has become a
popular trend nowadays because most of the beauty salons available in town offer this kind of service.
Beautiful nail design is not only to adorn nails but is also a great way of showing off your beautiful
fingernails.
P. Values Integration
For giving this kind of service, always keep in mind that whether we’re cleaning the nails of the
customer or applying nail cosmetics, the safety of the clients or customers is at stake. Don’t always be
in a hurry to put nail polish on their nails, take time to know if there’s any issue about their nails or skin
to avoid compromising their health.
