JASMINE PROJECT
As part of ConocoPhillips major offshore development project in the North Sea, Bertling was
awarded a contract to transport in excess of 30,000 freight tonnes of steel and equipment from vendors works to fabrication yards in Cadiz, Ravenna and Jebel Ali.
Jacket nodes and lifting trunnions up to 80Te each road transported from Sheffield to Hull.
The nodes & trunnions were loaded into coasters for shipment to Ravenna. Securing the nodes for
ocean passage via the Bay of Biscay provided Bertling with an interesting challenge.

To suit the installation requirements at the topsides fabrication yard, two Liebherr pedestal cranes
were shipped, fully assembled, from Rostock to Cadiz.
With slew ring, machinery house and A‐frame in one piece, each crane was 18.8m high and 82.8Te. Bertling chartered modern gearless tonnage capable of ocean passage with open hatches to make
the shipment to Cadiz. The first 5 hatch covers were left off to accommodate the cranes.

The two 56.2m long main boom assemblies weighing 57.5Te each were then stowed on the
remaining hatch covers aft of the cranes.
The vessel under way via the Kiel Canal.

Flash Gas Compressor 11.1m Long x 3.4m Wide x 3.8m High weighing 52.5Te road hauled from
Duisburg to Zeebrugge, ro‐ro shipped to Bilbao and road hauled to Cadiz.
60Te Gas Turbine‐driven Generator skid road hauled from Lincoln to Liverpool for consolidation with other cargo for shipment to Cadiz. Bertling was responsible for lifting tackle design and procurement for the loading in Liverpool as well as the discharge in Cadiz and final installation on the topsides.

Many of the vessels, tanks and pressure vessels were procured in Italy and required road haulage
over considerable distances from vendor’s works to the Rosetti fabrication yard in Ravenna.
