JAMIE SIA GADONGThe Guy in the Bow Tie

Jamie Sia Photography

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to pick up my brochure.

So..... Me……

I’m quite a geek at heart, but like to think I’m quite cool too! I’ve termed the combination of the two as being a “Gook” which I know isn’t ideal being someone who is and looks very oriental. I’m originally from Malaysia but moved to my now home of the wonderful UK when I was 6. My passion for photography started at an early age, but this was of me being in front of the camera and not behind it!

I love my wife and children most of all but have many other passions too. Snowboarding…. I love snowboarding, we’ve missed a few seasons recently (due to having little people in our lives) but as soon as they are old enough, we’ll be on the slopes! I play golf to a decent standard and enjoy badminton, not so decent. I love superheroes and used to read comics when I was younger, its become rather fashionable these days - which makes me look even cooler! Well at least I keep telling myself that! I love to drive, just drive... explore the area around and find some really lovely secluded wonders but most of all I love photography, looking at it, doing it, teaching it. It truly is my passion.

Take a look through my work and if you like what you see, give me a call, send me an email, release the carrier pigeon or come see me.4 Meadow Close

Whatever our soul s are made of, his and mine are the same.

– Emily Bronte

All my packages come with a complimentary engagement shoot. This is a great opportunity for you to get to know me better, and me you, the way I shoot and to make you feel more comfortable having your photo taken on your wedding day. I believe it is very important for us to build a great relationship. The shoot itself lasts around an hour and we go to places where you both like going on days out. Somewhere that means something to you both is always nice, the wackier the better! During the shoot itself I’ll talk to you about the day, all those fine details, just so I can find out the important bits! People you love (apart from each other of course) and who’s who on the day. This is all very important to me as I can make sure we get the most out of the photographs on the day.

When you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

- When Harry Met Sally

As you may have noticed already, I’m the guy in a bowtie. I am a strong believer in looking presentable at a wedding. So I usually rock a bow tie and braces and suit trousers and depending on the weather, a warm coat. Saying that... My mission is not to be noticed, people tend to look their best when they don’t know they’re having their photo taken. I have been often told that I always seem to be there at the right time but the truth is I was always there and only noticed when looked for. A bit of Ninja! Both of my packages include two photographers. One with the bride - that’s usually me. Lets be honest, the most important person on the day is usually the bride, followed closely by the groom. I tend to capture the bridal preparations and usually arrive when they’re having hair and make up done, this is usually 2-3 hours before the ceremony. The 2nd photographer goes to the groom and arrives just before they’re getting ready and this usually is an hour or two before the ceremony. Depending on the schedule we will both then make our way to the ceremony venue and capture it before anyone arrives and whilst guests arrive. These details are really important to us as they are things that probably took a lot of time organising, creating or making and is often forgotten in the whirlwind that is a wedding. Of course the ceremony itself is captured throughout and then it’s on to the reception venue. Same goes again for capturing those little details and the venue itself. You can always guarantee we’ll be there to capture the funny moments that are often missed. Depending on the schedule we would have formal photographs taken and lots of informal candids.

The gorgeous photos you see throughout this brochure are from the two creative sessions I fit into the day. They are very quick creative sessions to capture just you. I think this is really important as you won’t be doing this again looking so beautiful and handsome as you are. The first creative session is usually before the reception dinner and the other is usually before the first dance. It gives for a very contrasted look and some really special photographs. I have also been told that this time is a really nice time for the couple to enjoy time alone (despite being with us). Depending on which package you have chosen we are there on - until the speeches or till the first dance. All of this information, including guest name photo list, is noted well before the wedding and I create a run sheet of the day. This helps you and I know what is happening when. Now I know that the best laid plans... Well sometimes don’t work out and that is to be expected but we will endeavour to keep, as best we can, to the run sheet we come up with together. And that’s usually that. I have had requests to stay on longer, which is absolutely fine. Please contact me if you have anything special planned after the first dance. I really would not want to miss out on fireworks! After all the photos are done it takes me around 4 - 6 weeks to get the photos back to you in a lovely presented usb box and an extra little treat!06

Whats the best way to book you? Well you have a few options. Email me, call me or use the contact form on the contact us page of my website.

How do I secure the date? There is 20% non-refundable securing fee to secure your date. This will ensure that no else gets me for your date. The remainder can be paid off at any point up to one month prior to your wedding day.

Can we meet with you before the wedding? Yes, I recommend meeting up for a free consultation before their wedding to go through all the details of the day, usually arranged either before confirming the booking or a few months before the big day. It will give you a better idea of what you have planned ahead. If this is not possible due to distances then I will always be available by phone, e-mail, Skype, Facetime or carrier pigeon! I’m joking on the last one. My pigeon is currently out of action.

How long does it take to get the photos back after the wedding? The average editing time is between four to six weeks but if it’s really busy then it might take a little bit longer. I’ll let you know if that is the case though.

How do we get the photographs? There are a couple of options with this one - You can either get them on personalised disc or USB there will be both high resolution and low resolution pictures. There will also be a password protected on the website for you and your guests to view and order from. I always try and post a few preview shots up on my blog, website and Facebook page. And also some on the day, time dependant.

What is the best way to describe your style of photography? My style has been described as cretive, documentary, contemporary and

natural. Although photography is very subjective most of my clients would agree with those four words. Something that I would add is that during the converstations I have with the bride and groom I will always take on board any ideas they have and try to incorporate this into my style of photography. I like this alot.

Do you require food during the day? This all depends on the package you choose but If it is over the 5 hour mark then food would be advised. It ensures that I stay cheerful, mobile, and don’t faint from starvation. It doesn’t have to be the same as your sit-down meal (many caterers offer “vendor meals” as an add-on option). I prefers to be fed when YOU are fed, not afterwards, because when you are eating you’re not at your most photogenic. I have no allergies or special requirements for food. I eat mostly everything - apart from liver, kidney and brain.

Are you insured? This is an essential for both yours and my piece of mind. I would not be comfortable not knowing that you or I were not covered for any eventuality. Also, I’d be happy to provide the policy if required.

What cameras & equipment do you use? Canon all the way for me. Even my photo printers are Canon! Its one of those decision you make early on in your career and I happen to start off with a Canon in my hand. I use a couple of lens usually but have a few in my arsenal. Can you photoshop me so I look thinner? The short answer, afraid not. The long answer, Yes I am able to do it but it would an additional cost to you. I do small edits, so blemishes, spots, objects in the background but nothing more than that. :-)
