Urban landscape photography

-In some way describe a town or city

-Represents an attempt to understand our experience of the city-Shows a dedication to the subject, expressed through a body of work rather than isolated images

-Concentrates on structures or processes rather than on people

-May deal in either details or a broader view

The urban landscape can be viewed both as a series of structures and edifices more or less organised by human action and as a panorama of social and cultural histories framing our present and inscribing our past. Seen in this way, '....the conurbation becomes one huge archaeological site as the city reveals its inner self through a continuous process of urban renewal and revitalisation in which the very innards of the landscape are exposed and delayered like a vast

anatomical dissection' (Ron McCormick, Archaeologies : Tracing History in the Urban Landscape, 1998). The challenge for urban landscape photography is to not only record the physical manifestations of this relentless process, but also to make visible the underlying social and cultural forces which ultimately determine their form and meaning. The enduring power of photography lies in the acceptance of its images as credible documentary records with

enduring archival validity. The apparant transparency of the photographic image promotes the idea of comparing photographs of the same subject taken at different times. Through photography, therefore, the urban landscape as it appears today may be compared directly with what it looked like in the past, so providing a new context in which both historical and contemporary images may be viewed and interpreted. Our understanding of history can be divided

into two periods : the time before photography and the period following its invention.

GUY STRAUSSMy personal view of a photographer is one that imagines the world through the lens. From the wider perspective of a colorful landscape, through people and subjects on the move, capturing feelings up to the smallest tears on a child´s face.

Create your photography while enjoying every minute of the process is the essence of my art.I was exposed to photography many years ago, as a kid, with a fully manual film slr where your greatest anticipation was for the few days time, that the film will be processed and printed. Since then the photography equipment evolved greatly, but you must stick to the basic techniques to get the best shot. I love to walk around the city and capture the urban life and moments, especially the night time with the different lights.

"Life is like a photography, we develop from negatives"This analogy to life where you grow from your experience is so true for the photography itself, the more you learn and experience, the more art you create.
