3.VERBAL IRONY.
SITUATIONAL IRONY:
-When the unexpected happens in a situation (usually negative)
EXAMPLE:A girl buys a gun to protect herself. She is
mugged and the thief steals her gun and shoots her with

VERBAL IRONY:
-When what is said is the opposite of what is
meantEXAMPLE: My brother eats all of the cereal, and I say,
“GREAT! I was really hoping to starve today.”
DRAMATIC IRONY:
-when the audience knows something the characters
don’tEXAMPLE: The audience knows that Juliet is dead but the
characters (especially Romeo) don’t
