IP is not deterministic

IP is not deterministic. There is currently no network platform available that can guarantee

100% delivery of content and control data in a shared environment.

IT storage and network technology is designed to be shared environments and

therefore default to best effort as load increases.

Quality of service protocols still fail in video environments under certain load conditions.

The wrong device activated in the wrong network port can impact all traffic flows

in infrastructure.

Summary

• Market dynamics demand a new approach, and the benefits we get from IT are compelling

enough to undertake the challenges introduced with IP Routing.

• The four main drivers are:

1. The broadcast industry will benefit from the drivers behind IP technology. The relatively

small media industry can take advantage of the gains that are created from mega IT,

internet, smart phones and other industries.

2. Flexibility. Apply the same benefits that IP has provided in every day life to the broadcast in

dustry.

3. Capacity will continue to increase with Moore’s Law

4. The coexistence of various formats such as HD Video, 3G, 4K/UHD, 24/32bit Audio in

stereo, 5.1, 9.1 22.2 with any sample frequency and Control Data can be switched with the

same Router/Core Switch.
