Invitation Dear Colleagues Organizing committee of the National Buffalo Conference – 2019 (ISBD-2019) is delighted to extend heartfelt invitation for National conference on “Enhancing Rural Livelihood through Improved Buffalo Productivity and Health” at College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari during 17-19 Jan., 2019. Your Active participation in the conference will provide a platform for the scientists, teachers and students to explore challenges and opportunities in rural livelihood enhancement. Discussion on conventional and recent approaches will make the event fruitful. Symposium Theme Livestock has been an integral component of traditional agriculture and buffalo played a pivotal role in overall social development in India. The majority of small and marginal farmers are more dependent on buffaloes than the cattle for their livelihood. Besides generating employment in rural areas it provides quality food. Interestingly buffalo milk accounts for largest share of total milk produced in the country. Buffalo milk contains more fat and protein contents than cow milk and can be preserved for longer period. Besides this it can utilise the roughages and crop by-products efficiently. Gujarat possesses many prominent buffalo breeds developed traditionally adapted to climatic conditions. Similarly many breeds are developed in other parts of the country. The conference will explore better use of these buffalo genetic resources for enhancing rural livelihood in generating employment, particularly for women in rural areas. Technical Sessions 1. Products and Technologies Abstract Submission Organizing committee of ISBD-2019 invites scientists, teachers and students to submit abstract of original and quality research work limited to 250 words as word file (A4 size paper, Times New Roman, 12 font size, 1.5” space). The abstract should be submitted with title, name of the authors (Last name followed by initial) and institute address with email ID of presenting author. The abstract should include background, objectives, methods, results and conclusions without headings. Make sure to underline the name of presenting author. Send abstract by email to [email protected] latest by 24th Dec. 2018. Presentation Oral: Selected abstracts will be allowed for maximum 7 minutes for presentation. The speakers are advised to make presentation accordingly and bring a presentation (ppt) in a removable disk. Poster: A poster should be informative, attractive and self-explanatory. The size of poster should be 3’ (Vertical) X 2’ (Horizontal). Awards There will be a best paper award in both oral and poster presentation category for each session. Venue College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry was established on 1 st July, 2008 under flagship of Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, Gujarat. Navsari is a district place and one of the oldest cities in South Gujarat. Historically, the first settlement of the Parsi community took place in Navsari in 1142 A.D. Apart from being the birth place of eminent personalities like Dadabhai Naoroji and Jamsedji Tata; Navsari has many nearby places to visit like Dandi (Namak Satyagah), sandy beach of Ubharat, Vansda National Park and Tithal beach at Valsad. Besides being country’s one of the largest exporter of fruits viz. Sapota and Mango (Kesar & Alfonzo), it is also known for sugarcane, floriculture, diamond and textile. Navsari is on main rail and road lines connecting Mumbai and Surat. Navsari is only 30 kilometres south of Surat by road and rail. University campus is just 3 kilometres away from Navsari Railway Station (West). Nearby airports are Surat (50 km), Vadodara (180 km) and Mumbai (250 km). Accommodation and Weather The Delegates/ Guests would be accommodated in University Guest House. However, accommodation arrangements will be made on prior information/ registration and first come first serve basis. In January, the weather remains cool and moderately humid. Expected temperature in the month of January at Navsari will be around 15-30°C.
