Creator’s Job: Determining how and whom should tell the story. Many students prefer for stories to be told in their language by characters that are around their age.

Point of View

The purpose or question that this story is addressing.

Creator’s Job: Determining why students would need to watch this digital story. Is it for laughs and giggles or is to answer a pertinent question for that particular concept?

Dramatic Question

Allows for complex topics to be told in a visual format.

Creator’s Job: Determining how to explain a serious issue that may receive a lot of students’ perspectives. Topics such as discrimination through digital stories provides students an opportunity to receive a deeper understanding of that content.

Emotional Content

Allows for information to be adjusted for the viewers.

Creator’s Job: Determining how to best present the digital story to their students based on their needs. Is this just a review, an introduction to a new subject, or a video to clarify misconceptions that students may have?

Customization

Allows for a more enjoyable learning experience.

Creator’s Job: Determining which music tracks to includes to make their digital story more interesting. Taking into consideration slow songs for more emotional parts of a digital story and fast songs to build anticipation or excitement.

Soundtrack

Allows for information to be short and sweet to the point.

Creator’s Job: Determining which information should be provided in the digital story without doing information overload to their viewers.

Economy

Allows for information to be provided at an appropriate time or speed.

Creator’s Job: Determining when information should be provided in the digital story. It is great to build anticipation or speed up the story for parts that are not necessarily important. In addition, digital stories should not be drawn out because this may cause students to become unmotivated and withdrawn from the digital story.
