When we began manufac-turing laboratory furniture in1950, the Waldner companyhad already been in existencefor 42 years.Opened as a plumber'sworkshop by our founderHermann Waldner in 1908,the company continued toexpand.

Waldner appliances andequipment for the dairy indus-try and dairies had alreadymade their mark as early asthe 1930s. In the expansiveclimate of the economic mir-acle of the fifties, Waldnersuccessfully serviced the grow-ing laboratory requirementsof the dairy industry. As the company’s successgrew, so too did the numberof employees in the variousprofessional areas.

In the following decades, media supply, ventilationsystems and electronic con-trols added to our progressivebusiness offering.

Even wehad humble beginnings

Whole families have beenemployed at Waldner; some-times across the generations. There are practically no limitsto professional development. As demanded by our highlevel of in-house production,cross-departmental exchangetakes place in the differentareas so that we can becomemore efficient and productivetogether. This creates a con-centrated wealth of experi-ences that employees couldonly otherwise gain outsidethe company.

Against this background, in2001, Waldner, in cooper-ation with the IHK, set up anadditional training course onlaboratory building: as a quali-fied specialist with a broadrange of knowledge, thelaboratory builder can carryout all work related to labora-tory furnishing independentlyand autonomously.

As an internationally activecompany, we also deploy ourcross-regional skills and experi-ence. We both encourageand demand creativity and awillingness to learn; we solicitand give open feedback, andwe communicate our ideasand opinions.Short, non-bureaucratic deci-sion-making channels accel-erate ideas and projects. This creates an interestingand dynamic working envi-ronment where employeesare happy to work. It is not for nothing that weare the innovation leader inEurope – it is because weemploy good people.

The patented“Secutromb”fume cup-board, whichcan be oper-ated with 70%supply air, setsnew standardsin the labworld.

The fact that many of ourideas and solutions in thelaboratory sphere havebecome “milestones” moti-vates us daily to create newones. At Waldner, it is a traditionand a necessity in equal measure to think unconven-tionally: if people can not findwhat they want off the shelf, they set about making itthemselves. Our own in-house productionand the associated develop-ment and construction workalways keeps us on the ball.

The creative energy generatedby the interaction of ourdepartments creates a spicydynamic – because peoplewho look beyond the end oftheir own noses see more. Our in-house ideas pool is fullto bursting. We have numerous patents, utility models and makes toour credit – all dreamed up byour own experts.

As the premier laboratorymanufacturer, we have alsoreceived DIN ISO 9001 certifi-cation.For years we have been inten-sively investigating the inter-relationships between people, workplaces, ergonomics andecology in the laboratory. Wedeploy renowned specialiststo help us accurately home inon any problem areas.Because we then analysethese findings in depth, weare able to design laboratoryspaces as intelligent, partner-ship-oriented systems.

It makes sense to be aware of existing standards, but we prefer to set ourselves new ones

With the Air-flow Controller,Waldner devel-ops the firstfully automaticvolume currentcontroller forlaboratory fumecupboards.

Waldner intro-duces the vari-able labora-tory furnishingsystem “Vario-lab-MobilienW90” (VariolabFurnishings).

The service wing as an intelli-gent system solution, with itsdistribution “from above”,creates freedom for a room’sparticular requirements andconditions. Our ventilation managementis integrated in the ventilationof the entire laboratory building. In this way we facilitatesmooth workflows and maxi-mum freedom when it comesto arranging each functionalarea of the laboratory. For its functional design, ourmc6® system has been awar-ded the Chicago DesignAward, among others.

Going forward, we will con-tinue to do everything possibleto inspire our customers withnew and innovative ideas.

With our mc6® LaboratorySystem, we have once againbroken the standards mould. As dynamic functional unitswith interchangeable andcombinable modules, the

mc6® systems meet everyconceivable requirement. The integrated media supplyand waste-disposal systemprovides laboratory servicesdecentrally wherever they areneeded.

The patentedexposure fumecupboard in accord-ance with DIN12924 Part 2 islaunched on themarket.

Made-to-measure not ready-made.We manufacture our labora-tory components ourselveswith a manufacturing pen-etration which is unusual inthe industry. This allows us todictate our quality level andto create special solutionsfaster.

With our process-optimisedproduction sequences weachieve the shortest possibleproduction times for consider-able volumes. This is how weproduce approximately30,000 underbenches,15,000 laboratory cabinets,15,000 services cubicles and 3,000 fume cupboardsevery year.

When you are at the top, there are few you can look upto. So it is the needs of ourcustomers and our own ideasand possibilities that show usthe way forward. We knowwhat is expected of us – wewant to be and we mustalways be better than the imi-tators. Constantly forging new pathsinstead of taking well-troddenones does, admittedly, makeus sweat sometimes.

But tailoring our product andservice offering to the respect-ive wishes of our customers isour standard, because it isonly with the flexibility andvariability of our systems thatwe can achieve the best sol-ution to equip our customerssuperbly for the future. As early as the planningstage, we take into consider-ation the specific finer pointsof your project. Whethercomplete furnishing andwhole room projects, newbuildings or difficult architec-tural conditions are the orderof the day, our engineers canhandle all of the work.We cover the following areasdepending on the particularproject and the requirements:architecture, timber-framesystems, mechanical engineer-ing, timber-frame construc-tion, structural engineering, civil engineering, energy andheating systems, electronics, electrical engineering, management systems, pro-cess engineering and mediasupply systems.

Having success is great, but being better is a calling

WALDNER devel-ops the paten-ted hatch fumecupboard inaccordance withDIN 12924 Part 3with vacuumedsliding panels.

Another newdevelopment isthe patentedsystem “RL”; anintegrated ventila-tion managementsystem in the entire laboratorybuilding.
