English, the importance of comparative evidence for linguistic theory is now widely recognized. Language Issues is the Journal of the National Associ~,Ltion for Teaching English and Other Community Languages for Adults. It provides a forum for p=~oetitioners to share ideas on_ language teaching and learning specific to their field, and covers the political and social implications r;fised by language learning and teaching of bilingual/mult'flingual adults who may be members of settled ethnic minorities, refugee3 of migrant workers and their families.
