‘Nirmal Jeevan Abhiyan’ is a successful undertaking sponsored by the Parent Organization, Latthe Education Society, Sangli. The following programmes were carried out by the committee during the first term. 1) A lecture of our student Miss. Ankita S. Patil on ‘Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil’ was

organized for students on 06/09/2014. 2) A lecture of Miss Priyanka R. Koli was held on the topic ‘Savitribai Phule’ on

06/09/2014. 3) A lecture of Miss Sujata S. Kerikai from Balwantrao Zele Junior College, Jaysingpur

on ‘Dr. Karmveer Bhaurao Patil’ was organized on 20/09/2014. 4) A guest lecture of Miss Aishwarya R. Tabad on ‘Stephen Hopkins’ was held on

20/09/2014. 5) A lecture of Miss Gayatri P. Majalekar on ‘Dr. Karmveer Bhaurao Patil’ was held on

CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE Convener : Prof. P. S. Waghmare

1) Inauguration of the committee by Dr. R. K. Swami. 2) Celebration of ‘Teachers Day’ and ‘College Anniversary Day’ on 05/09/2014, the

Chief Guest of this function was Dr. R. K. Swami. He consulted the students on various academic and in general topics of life. He particularly emphasized on the life and teaching of Dr. Radhakrishanan, the first president of independent India.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY CENTRES IN

COLLEGES Convener : Dr. Mrs. M. D. Udgaonkar

1) Three meetings of the committee were held in the first term respectively on 11/08, 22/08 and 06/09/2014. An outline of the working of the committee throughout the year was chalked out.

2) A guest lecture of Prof. Mrs. K.M. Tambake on the subject ‘Social Equality & Justice’ was organized on 16/08/2014.

3) A guest lecture of Prof. Subhash Dagade was organized on 19/08/2014 on the topic – ‘Reservation & Equality’

INTERNAL GRIEVANCE COMMITTEE &

ANTI RAGGING HELPLINE Convener : Prof. V.B. Bhagare

1) Director & Anchor of Sangli Radio Station participated in an open discussion with the students on the current topic ‘Present Condition Of Women - Remedies And Security’ on 23/08/2014.

2) On 17/09/2014 a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prin. Dr. G. J. Fagare. The following businesses were extensively discussed in the meeting related to students. a) Guest Lectures of Psychiatrists & their counseling regarding Ragging. b) Problems of women & remedies thereon. c) Self - Protection. d) Health Care. e) Use Of Cell Phone.

3) On 26/09/2014 advocate Mrs. Kalplata Anuje acquainted the students with newly introduced laws for women after ‘Nirbhaya Case’. An open discussion was held on this occasion concerning empowerment of women.

COMMERCE FORUM Convener : Prof. Mrs. M. R. Shinde

The commerce forum was formally inaugurated by Dr. N. L. Kadam (HOD, Accountancy) from Jaysingpur College, Jaysingpur in the presence of Prin. Dr. G. J. Fagare and Vice Principal Dr. S. D. Patil on 27/09/2014 alongwith students from commerce faculty. Dr. N. L. Kadam shared his own experience and thoughts on career opportunities in commerce education.

WALLPAPER COMMITTEE Convener : Prof. Miss. S. S. Suryawanshi

The wallpapers on the following topics were displayed in the college. 1) ‘Poverty in Maharashtra’ under the title ‘Arthavishwa’ 2) ‘Hindi Saptah’ 3) ‘Social Networking Sites ’

RESEARCH AND STAFF ACADEMY Convener : Dr. Mrs. S. C. Lengade

1) Inauguration function of the committee was held on 28/08/2014 in the hands of Prof. Rajiv Mhalagi, he delivered an illuminating speech.

2) Two Days workshop was organized by the committee on ‘How to fill API forms based on PBAS system’, Dr. S. A. Bojagar from New college Kolhapur was the first resource person on 24/09/2014. Next day on 25/09/2014 Prin. Dr. G. J. Fagare guided the faculty members through his three informative lectures. The workshop erased all the doubts and ambiguities in the mind of the faculty members, regarding API based on PBAS forms.

LADIES HOSTEL Convener : Prof. R. G. Varekar

The following activities / programmes were completed on behalf of the ladies hostel between 14th June to October 2014. 1) ‘Kojagiri Pounima’ celebration – on account of Kojagiri Purnima different games

were organized for the indoor girl students between 09.30 pm to 12.00 midnight entertaining games like Antakshiri, Acting, Dancing were performed by them spontaneously. They were offered flavored milk at 12 midnight, and the celebration concluded.

2) ‘Dandiya Dance’ – On account of ‘Navaratri Utsav’ students of our college performed traditional ‘Dandiya dance’ on 01/10/2014 in our UVG Hall as well as in the Ladies Hostel. It made the hostel atmosphere holy, cheerful and jubilant.

SHIVAJI UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION

COMMITTEE Convener : Dr. Mrs. M. D. Udgaonkar

A meeting of the committee was called on 07/10/2014 to discuss and plan the forthcoming university examinations of B.A. / B.Com/ B.C.A. classes.

TIME TABLE COMMITTEE

Convener : Prof. R. G. Varekar A convenient and systematic time-table for all the departments and subjects was prepared which is followed by all members of faculty and a master time table was submitted to the Hon. Principal.

CONSTRUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

FUND COMMITTEE Convener : Prof. R. G. Varekar

A discussion with Mr. S. R. Kamble (Head Clerk) was held regarding construction & development under U.G.C. Plan for the year 2014 – 15

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE &

MAITRI SANGH Convener : Prof. P.D. Chandanshive

A meeting of scholarship committee and Maitri Sangh was held on 11/09/2014 under the chairmanship of Prin. Dr. G. J. Fagare. The concerned students were acquainted with various scholarship schemes and other extra facilities. Two seminars were organized for scholarship holder students in order to make them aware of the different types of scholarships available, how to take an advantage of those scholarships, eligibility forms, filling and submission of scholarship forms online, supporting documents etc. The office bearer Sou. Herwade took great efforts in this regard and the facility of filling online forms was made available to the students in the college itself.

SOCIAL SCIENCE COMMITTEE Convener : Prof. D.D. Mandape

The following programmes were held and activities completed by this committee during the first term of Academic Year 2014 – 15 1) A Guest lecture of Mrs. Sweta D. Chougule on ‘Personality Development & Career

Planning’ was organized for the students on 19/08/2014, alongwith her enlightening guidance she frankly participated in the open discussion and answered the questions raised by students.

2) A Seminar on ‘Career Guidance’ was held on 30/08/2014. The Directors of Win Infotech, Mr. Maruti Kalgutagi, Mr. Vinayak Pujari, Mr. Vijay Magdum guided the students on the topic and cleared the doubts of the students.

LEAD COLLEGE

Convener : Prof. Mrs. M. R. Shinde The first meeting of the committee was held on 09/10/2014 under the guidance of Prin. Dr. G. J. Fagare, and in the presence of Vice Principal Dr. S.D. Patil. The formation of this committee was done in accordance with guidelines provided by Shivaji University. A tentative planning of organizing two ‘One Day workshop’ was discussed and finalized.

MAHARASHTRA VIVEK VAHINI Convener : Prof. P.D. Chandanshive

1) Inaugural ceremony of Maharashtra Vivek Vahini was held on 20/08/2014 in the hands of well-known writer Mrs. Nilam Mangave. Homage was paid to the founder of Vivek Vahini - the great activist Late Dr. Narendra Dabholkar.

2) A Poster on ‘Eradication of Superstition’ offered by Mr. Ramesh Mangave was displayed in the college.

3) A discussion on ‘San - Utsav & Paryavaran [Festival Celebrations and Environment] was held on 27/08/2014 wherein the students spontaneously came out with their thoughts and opinions.

4) A discussion cum meeting on ‘Striyanchya Andhashraddha’ (Superstitions in Women) was held on 13/10/2014.

B. C. CELL STANDING COMMITTEE

Convener : Prof. K. S. Shelar The committee was formed as per the guidelines recommended by Shivaji University, Kolhapur. A meeting of the cell was called on 11/10/2014 under the chairmanship of the Principal. The admission procedure adopted for the year 2014 – 15 was reviewed in this meeting. The reservation policy for reserved category students was strictly followed. The B.C. students were admitted with payment of ten rupees only. B.C. candidates were admitted under ‘Equal Opportunity Centre in College’ and ‘Remedial Coaching Scheme for S.C. / S.T.’ The concerned students were provided with necessary guidance regarding B.C. Scholarship rules. A separate meeting was organized for reserved category students to guide them on how to fill in the scholarship forms. Problems of some faculty members and administrative staff belonging to B.C. category were discussed and satisfactory solutions were sought out.

LITERARY ASSOCIATION Convener : Dr. R. L. Govande

1) A guest lecture of Prof. Raja Malage on ‘Sant Sahityatil Vivekawad’ was organized on 28/08/2014 jointly with ‘Staff Academy’.

2) A joint organization of ‘Teacher’s Day’ and ‘Hindi Din’ was held. A book exhibition (Hindi Language & Literature) was held with the co-operation of Library Department.

CYCLE BANK SCHEME Convener : Prof. K. S. Shelar

Thirty ‘Economically Backward and Needy’ students were provided with bicycles under this scheme. The scheme has extremely benefited the students from nearby villages at the distance of 5 to 10 kilometers. Their parents too feel obliged towards the scheme and for convenience made available to their wards in the form of bicycles.

‘YASHODA’ ANNUAL MAGAZINE Convener : Dr. Mrs. M. D. Udgaonkar

A meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Hon. Principal Dr. G. J. Fagare to discuss and plan the publication of ‘Yashoda’ for the year 2014–15 issue. Distribution of work was assigned to other members of the committee. Notices were displayed for the students appealing them for literature.

LIBRARY DEPARTMENT

Convener : Mrs. M. S. Jain 1) A meeting of the ‘Library Advisory Committee’ was held on 11/08/2014 to discuss

and sanction the budget for the year 2014 – 15. The budget covered purchase of books, journals for senior and junior wing as well as BCA department. Their demand was considered and sanctioned. Stock verification report for May/June 2014 was submitted. Textbooks and Reference Books were purchased as per the revised syllabus for certain classes and subjects.

2) ‘Library User Education Programme’ has been implemented by the committee. The Programme concentrates on imparting information regarding library through ‘Granthlaya Parichaya Patrika’ which is handed over to the newly admitted students, in XI Arts, XI Com, B.A. I and B.Com I classes.

3) ‘Dr. Ranganthan Day’ was celebrated on 09/08/2014. 4) ‘Readers’ Club’ – In order to boost reading habit among the students, this department

has been established. A special circulation service is provided to the participants of this club.

5) ‘Book Bank Scheme’ – Seven students from economically backward family have been facilitated under this scheme so far in this academic year.

6) ‘Special Borrowing Facility’ – This facility is offered to the aspirants of competitive examinations such as MPSC, UPSC alongwith NET, SET, M.Phil and Ph.D.

7) ‘Earn And Learn Scheme’ – one student from our college is allowed to work in library under this scheme - Miss Laxmi Koli from XII commerce.

8) ‘Book Exhibition’ – The library Department in alliance with Hindi Department successfully organized Book Exhibition on account of ‘Hindi Saptah’ from 15/09/2014 to 18/09/2014.

REMEDIAL COACHING COURSES Convener : Prof. D. B. Karnik

The remedial coaching course aims at providing extra guidance to the slow learners and students from various categories coming from economically and educationally weaker background. The programmes conducted by this committee in the first term of the academic year 2014 – 15 are given in detail as under. 19 lectures on different subjects as per the requirement of the students were organized in the first term.

B.C.A. INFRASTRUCTURE

COMMITTEE Convener : Prof. R. G. Varekar

The infrastructure was systematically carried out under the precious guidance of Hon. Principal. The required teaching staff was appointed. Well - equipped computer lab has been established for the same with internet connection.

During the year 2014 – 15 various programmes were conducted by BCA Dept., they are listed as below :

CELEBRATIONS 1. 12th July2014 (Guru Pournima) :-

The students of BCA Dept. gathered together in the classroom and started the programme by singing the song “Guru Brahma Guru Vishu…”. Then all the teachers were felicitated with flowers. Some students shared their views regarding this day. Also the teachers shared their experience and the importance of this day.

2. 4th Aug 2014 (Friendship Day):-

Friendship Day was celebrated by all the students & the teachers with lots of joy. All the students tied the friendship bands to their friends &even to the teachers . The students arranged a small function on this day in which they expressed their thoughts & importance of a friend in everyone’s life. They also shared some shayaries & quotes on friendship.

3. 10th Aug 2014 (RakshaBandhan):-

Rakshabandhan was celebrated by the 2nd& 3rd year students. Some students tied Rakhies to each other & also to our HOD of BCA Dept. Mr. Menon Sir.

4. 29th Aug 2014 (Ganesh Chaturthi):-

On this day Ganesh Chartuthi festival was organized by BCA Dept. , All the teachers & the students were present. On this occasion, the Gauri dance programmes were performed by some students.

5. 2nd Oct 2014 (Gandhi Jayanti&Dandiya) :-

On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the students cleaned all the college campus.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 1. Expert Guidance:-

In the month of August & September, expert guidance sessions were arranged. a) On 20th Aug, Guidance on the subject of ‘Cost Accounting’ was conducted by

Miss. Dhanashri Magdum, all the students were present for this lecture. b) On 26th Aug, Guidance on the subject ‘Software Engineering’ was conducted

by Miss. Priyanka Patil, all the students of 3rd year were present for this lecture. c) On 11th Sept, Guidance on the subject ‘Cost Accounting’ was conducted by

Mrs. Kamate Mam for which all the students were present. d) On 23rd Sept, Guidance on the subject of ASP.Net was conducted by Miss.

Manali Bagrecha, for this session all the students were present.

2. Seminars:- a) On 12th Aug, the students of BCA 2nd year presented their seminar on the topics

given to them by the teachers. All the teachers of BCA Dept. were present for this session.

b) On 18th Aug, the students of BCA 3rd year presented their seminar on the topics given to them by the teachers. All the teachers of BCA Dept. were present for this session.

c) On 8th Sept., Both the classes(2nd& 3rd year) presented their seminar on the topic given to them. All the teachers of BCA Dept. were present for this session.

3. Group Discussions:- a) On 16th Aug, Group Discussion Session was arranged for Students of BCA 2nd

year. The topic for Group Discussion was “Use of Internet below the age of 18 years” was given to students. Both the groups expressed their ideas & views regarding the topic in their own manner. It was very interactive session. All the teachers of BCA Dept. were present for this session.

b) On 30th Aug, Group Discussion Session was arranged for Students of BCA 3rd year. The topic for Group Discussion was “Should we vote or not” was given to students. Both the groups expressed their ideas & views regarding the topic in their own manner. It was very interactive session. All the teachers of BCA Dept. were present for this session.

c) On 6th Sept., Group Discussion Session was arranged for students of BCA 2nd

year. The topic for Group Discussion “Comparison of Foreign Culture with Indian Culture” was given to students. Both the groups expressed their ideas & views regarding the topic in their own manner. It was very interactive session. All the teachers of BCA Dept. were present for this session.

d) On 20th Sept., Group Discussion Session was arranged for Students of BCA 3rd year. The topic for Group Discussion “Noise Pollution” was given to students. Both the groups expressed their ideas & views regarding the topic in their own manner. It was very interactive session. All the teachers of BCA Dept. were present for this session.

e) On 11th Oct, Group Discussion Session was arranged for Students of BCA 2nd & 3rd year. The topic for Group Discussion “21st Century Communication” was given to students. Two groups were made - BCA 2nd year & 3rd year. Both the groups expressed their ideas & views regarding the topic in their own manner. It was very interactive session. All the teachers of BCA Dept. were present for this session.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME [N.S.S.] Convener : Dr. G. N. Dhale

1. The College has got two units of 100 students each for N.S.S. from the list of 200 registered volunteers under the scheme and the list is sent to the coordinator, N.S.S. Sections, Shivaji University, Kolhapur.

2. Inauguration of the committee was done by Hon. Vinodbhau Ghodawat, Chairman of School Committee on 13/08/2014. On the same day dental check-up was organized for students jointly by NSS and Rotary club for girls, in which 350 volunteers and students were benefited.

3. 24/09/2014 – On account of ‘NSS Day’ a guest lecture of Dr. Nitin Sawant, Programme officer, N.S.S. Jaysingur College, Jaysingpur was organized on the topic, ‘Significance of NSS’ Diaries and Badges were distributed to 200 volunteers.

4. 02/11/2014 - Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahaddur Shashtri was celebrated in the college.

5. 02/10/2014 - ‘Mahatma Gandhi Cleanliness Abhiyaan’ was held with 120 volunteers in the college campus.

6. 12/10/2014 - ‘Run For Vote Rally’ was jointly held with Tehsil Office, Shirol and Jaysingpur College to create ‘Voting Awareness’ in Jaysingpur city in which 1000 students participated spontaneously out of which 350 students were from our college.
