A growing number of Alpha Xi Deltas are finding it easier to give a little something each month to the Foundation. These gifts are creating real opportunities for collegiate members. E-Xi Give allows Sisters to give throughout the year with manageable automatic credit card payments or electronic funds transfers from your checking account. Sandra Morrison, San Diego State '68, is one Sister who uses the E-Xi Give program. We sat down for a Q&A with Sandra to find out why she gives to the Alpha Xi Delta Foundation.

Q: Why do you give to the Alpha Xi Delta Foundation?A: In getting the alumnae association back up and running in our area, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of our younger alumnae. I’ve always seen the value in giving to the Foundation, to women who choose to make Alpha Xi Delta a part of their lives. But in meeting these young alumnae, I thought, “If this is today’s young Alpha Xi Delta, I will definitely support them!” I was so impressed.

Q: Why do you use the E-Xi Give program?A: I give through the E-Xi Give program because it is just what the name says - easy!

Q: What are you looking forward to in relation to Alpha Xi Delta?A: I am so excited for Convention this summer! I’ve already made plans to room with one of the Sisters with whom I went to school. It will be so much fun and very exciting to reconnect with old Sisters and meet new ones.

See what our collegiate members are saying about their time with our Leadership Coaches!

“The best part of the coaching session was being able to talk with someone who is so knowledgeable about Alpha Xi Delta. Megan Mackie, North Carolina-Wilmington '08, shared a lot of useful information to make our council and chapter meetings as efficient as possible. She also motivated and gave me confidence about running a council meeting for the first time next semester. Overall, I am so thankful for the guidance that Megan gave me. She is someone that I can really look up to.”

After Nicole Nystrom, Auburn '11, accepted an open bid to Alpha Xi Delta, she got involved with the Panhellenic Council at Auburn University because she liked the idea of sororities coming together to support each other and each other’s causes. Nicole is hoping to pave the way for more Alpha Xi’s to be involved with the Panhellenic Council on their campuses.

The Dorothy Dodd Panhellenic Leadership Grant provided Nicole with the opportunity to attend the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute (UIFI) during the summer of 2012. Nicole says UIFI was different than any other leadership experience in which she has ever participated. Unlike other leadership trainings, everyone at UIFI was from different campuses and there was

no competition, just “people truly helping each other and lifting each other up to be successful.” She felt she truly became part of a family, representing different schools and fraternities and sororities through the facilitated team building.

Nicole is currently working to get more Panhellenic women from Auburn to attend UIFI in the future, especially those women involved in Junior Panhellenic, which she is working to enhance this year. She sees these women as paving the future for Panhellenic at Auburn and UIFI. Nicole said she sees Alpha Xi Delta’s mission being enhanced by her experience at UIFI. She said, “I am helping to build a strong foundation for women leaders at Auburn and help them realize their potential.”

Dorothy Dodd Panhellenic Leadership Grants are awarded to an Alpha Xi Delta Panhellenic delegate or Panhellenic officer on a collegiate campus to help her further her leadership abilities and foster panhellenic values. This grant provided funding to the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute sponsored by the North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC).

Right: At UIFI, Nicole participated in a program called “Into The Streets.” Nicole’s group traveled to the WonderLab, a children’s museum in Bloomington, Indiana, and helped out in the garden. Nicole’s group had a lot of fun, and learned about gardening from the volunteer gardeners.
