This is a poem about a hardworking poor father who is being fondly remembered by his grown up son.

Content analysis:

Even on winter Sundays the loving old man woke up early in the morning and kindled the fire with his cracked hands that ached, when everybody was shivering in the blue black cold.The poem is a “regardful son’s belated homage to a loving father who did notreceive any love or gratitude from his son when he needed it”.

INFORMAL INTERACTION

The teacher initiates an informal interaction with the students and she tries to sustain the interest throughout the class.

ENTRY ACTIVITY

Teacher creates a mental readiness in pupils by asking about their childhood days.

a. Can you recollect your happy childhood days?

b. Who were your playmates during those days?

c. who is your best friend, father or mother?

Then teacher shows a video in the laptop, based on the chapter. Here teacher shows a video about, a loveable father and his son in the modern world.

Then teacher divided the class into 4 groups

Then she writes the title and authors name on the (BB) and shows author’s profile in a slide.

MICRO PROCESSING OF THE POEM:

Teacher readsthe poem with appropriate tone andintonation. Then second time she again use laptop for the recorded audio representation of poem line by line with appropriate tone.

Teacher asks the pupils to read the poem silently.

Teacher asks some simple questions

a. Who is the author of the poem?

b. Which day of the week is mentioned in the poem?

c. Name the title of the poem?

SHARING AND UNDERSTANDING

Teacher asks the students to sit in groups and share what they have understood, while seeing the video and while reading the poem. Teacher uses different methods and techniques to explain different vocabulary item.

Teacher gives the pictorial representation of each difficult word through laptop.

Then show the picture of a cracked hands through laptop.

Teacher shows different pictures to clarify the meaning of other words.

Teacher asks scaffolding questions

3. Father in these poem is lovable ornot?

4. Did the son realize the love of his father?

PRONUNCIATION DRILL

Teacher shows words and pronunciation using laptop and ask the students to listen each word’s pronunciation and repeat the words in that manner.

Teacher again shows a video, that of modern parents who do not have time to care their children and give them love and affection. Teacher helps to connect ideas

Then asks each group to make a comparison about parents in now a days and the father in those winter Sundays. Ask the group leaders to present their ideas and says other students to say their opinion during presentation.

ADDING LINES

Teacher ask the students to add more lines to the poem. After sometime asks them to present their creativity.

Teacher asks the pupils to read the poem loudly with appropriate tune and ask them to find new tone in the next day
