ACCENTURE INNOVATION AWARDS 2017

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1CIRCULAR FASHION

How can we change the fashion industry to produce fashion that looks good and is sustainable at the same time? Is it possible to use ‘good’ materials, ‘good’ energy and ‘good’ water for a ‘good’ economy and ‘good’ lives? What is the role of technology and digital innovation in this transition?

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1THE NEW PLASTICS ECONOMY

Can the circular economy for plastic packaging ever be economically viable? Currently, all plastic recycling is heavily subsidized or funded by companies, and the financials do not add up. How can we solve this? Do we need to increase the price of input materials or should we rationalize the amount of plastic in the market? In this roundtable, we discuss how we can make the system more efficient.

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1PRIVACY AND SECURITY OF HEALTHCARE DATAHealthcare organizations are increasingly facing security threats. In the age of personalized services and platforms, the lines of responsibility are becoming less clear. Everyone is responsible for data protection, but where do you draw the line? How can you keep data accessible and liquid, but also secure? How can organizations achieve optimal data protection while giving patients or citizens control over their own healthcare data and care? What is the extent of their responsibility and can they provide new services to bridge the gap between organizations and their, often irresponsible, consumers?

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1BOOSTING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE THROUGH TECHNOLOGYHippocrates once said: “Let the food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”. Diabetes Type 2 results from the body’s ineffective use of insulin. It comprises the majority of people with diabetes around the world, and is largely the result of excess body weight and physical inactivity. Which leads to increasing health care costs. Overall consumer health can significantly be improved by personalizing nutrition through digitalization and behavioral motivation. In this roundtable, we discuss the main obstacles to personalizing and promoting healthy nutrition for consumers. What can we do to improve this? Which technologies are not (or not yet) used optimally in the prevention of the disease? Who are the key stakeholders, and what is required of each party to enable a healthy consumer lifestyle through personalized nutrition and behavioral stimuli?

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1HOW TO CONNECT, SHARE AND CARE IN HEALTHCARE USING IOTDigital Transformation in the Dutch health market. How to connect, share and care. The people in our society are aging and our healthcare sobers. As an independent guide and director digitalAngel connects the healthcare ecosystem to improve insight and well-being. Our digitalAngel platform provides a secure, standardized and scalable IoT environment to connect sensors from different manufacturers to a centralized user-friendly management console. Using big data, business intelligence and smart business rules we improve the quality of healthcare while lowering overall cost.

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1SMART WORKERS AND THE EXTENDED ARTIFICIAL WORKFORCEA knowledge economy like the Netherlands, with less focus on production systems to drive the economy, is very dependent on knowledge workers. Knowledge workers have a high level of expertise, education or experience, and the primary purpose of their jobs involves the creation, distribution or application of knowledge. As highlighted in Accenture’s ‘Technology Vision 2016 – People First’, the heart of an Intelligent Enterprise consists of the value of its workers’ knowledge (intellectual capital). By equipping and amplifying the knowledge worker with intelligent technologies (Technology Vision 2017 – Amplifying You), the smart worker is born.

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1THE AGGREGATOR IN THE ENERGY MARKET

The share of renewable electricity is expected to rise sharply in the near future. Our biggest challenge here will not be installing sufficient generation capacity, but matching supply and demand. Demand for electricity has always been flexible, requiring adjustable supply. But renewable electricity is less flexible and difficult to store. We therefore expect to see a new player in the electricity market: the aggregator. The aggregator will facilitate the matching of supply and demand. In this roundtable session, we will discuss which technologies affect the need for aggregation, and whether the aggregator role should be commercial or governmental.

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1QUALITY OR QUANTITY IN SOLAR ELECTRICITYIn recent years, prices for solar panels have dropped significantly, resulting in a huge uptake of solar electricity by consumers. Most commercially available solar panels have an efficiency of between 10 and 20%, while the most efficient solar panels in the world have a 40-50% efficiency. In this roundtable session, we will explore whether there is any potential for a further increase in solar panel efficiency, and whether it would make more sense to focus on further efficiency increase or on reducing the cost of existing technologies.

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1DO YOU HAVE AN ACTION PLAN FOR THE GDPR (GENERAL DATA PROTECTION REGULATION)?As of May 25, 2018, all organizations need to be compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). As digital trust is increasingly seen as one of the critical success factors in B2C and B2B, it is important to get started with your GDPR action plan as soon as possible. Are you aware what data processing activities take place within your organization and what impact the GDPR will have? How do you best tackle a comprehensive project such as the GDPR? In this roundtable, Accenture, SAS and Van Doorne (legal expert in data protection) are happy to help you to get started with your GDPR plan and turn issues into opportunities.

In this roundtable, Fox-IT and Van Doorne will share their insights and best practices from both a technical and a legal perspective. ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1BLOCKCHAIN IN FOOD SAFETY AND TRACEABILITYGlobalization of the food industry has made it increasingly difficult to trace where our food comes from and what processes it has undergone. This makes the already complicated discussions on healthy and sustainable food even more ambiguous, making it harder for consumers to make ‘the right choice’. In this roundtable, we discuss the potential role of blockchain in traceability. Blockchain could result in a level of transparency that some companies will regret. So who will take on this challenge? Will it be corporates or governments? Or will local initiatives turn out to be the answer?

ROUNDTABLE ROUND 1REDUCING FOOD WASTE THROUGHOUT THE CHAINWorldwide, roughly one-third of food is wasted throughout the value chain – from the point of production to the consumer’s home. Besides leading to the unnecessary use of labor, water, energy and other resources, wasting food is contradictory in a world where almost one billion people are suffering from malnutrition. In this roundtable, we will focus on the amount of food that is wasted by those who produce and process foods and those who make food available for consumption. How can we reduce this? And how can consumers be encouraged to waste less food? What will be the most essential drivers?

B2B buyer demands have changed the game for B2B sellers. While many B2B sellers have made progress in developing dedicated digital touch points, most struggle with weaving them all together with their existing channels to create an engaging and seamless omni-channel customer experience. Banks are at risk if they fail to address open banking. They could miss out on platform-based business models and the strategies they enable.
