Using Filters & Exposures

• Filters give color to photographs

• Filters help give different effects, remove or reduce reflections, darken a blue sky, etc.

• When using exposure visualize how you want the final image to look.

Developing A Negative

• Some supplies need to develop are a timer, a funnel, developing reel, developing tanks, bottle cap opener, scissors, storage papers, containers, and stirring rod.

• Chemicals needed are developer, stop bath, fix, and water.

• Wear rubber gloves and tongs when using chemicals because it SMELLS REALLY REALLY BAD!

Processing A Negative

1. Select a time and temperature for your film and developer combination.

2. Mix the developer, stop bath, and fix to working strengths and adjust temperatures.

3. Set out materials for loading the film.

4. Turn off all lights in the darkroom and open film.

5. Cut off half width strip at beginning of a roll. (IF NEEDED)

6. Align film into reel and insert.

7. Wind the film into reel.

8. Assemble the tank and reel.

9. Pour developer in tank and start to agitate.

10. Pour out the developer.

11. Pour stop bath and agitate.

12. Remove stop bath.

13. Pour fix.

14. Check that film is clearing.

15. Pour out fix and save it for next time.

16. Add water to wash the film.

17. Unwind film and hang to dry.
