Aims and ScopeGASTROENTEROLOGY is the premiere journal in the field of gas-trointestinal disease and is led by an internationally renownedboard of editors. As the official journal of the AGA Institute,GASTROENTEROLOGY delivers up-to-date and authoritative cov-erage of both basic and clinical gastroenterology and hepa-tology. Author FeesSubmission Fees: Authors submitting original basic orclinical manuscripts to GASTROENTEROLOGY are required topay a $75 fee at submission. Page Fees: GASTROENTEROLOGYcharges authors of original research articles a fee for eachprinted page published. Authors will receive invoices forpage charges after the corrected proof of their acceptedmanuscript has been finalized. Page charges for non-AGAmembers are $100 per page. AGA members who are firstor corresponding author at the time of submission willreceive a 15% discount on page charges and pay $85 perpage. Color Fees: Figures that are reviewed in color mustbe published in color. $650 for the first figure, $100 foreach additional figure.
Title PageRequired for all submissions. Title of article cannot exceed120 characters with spaces and cannot include abbrevia-tions. Include full name(s), academic degree(s), and affilia-tion(s) of author(s). Include institution(s) and depart-ment(s) where study was performed. Include all grantsupport information. Include name, address, business tele-phone number, fax number, and email address of corre-sponding author. Include all author financial disclosuresand relevant conflicts of interest. For each author, includerole in manuscript. Include writing assistance information.
AbstractCannot exceed 260 words. Abbreviations must be spelledout. Include Background & Aims, Methods, Results,
Conclusions, and Keywords. Video abstracts are encour-aged. For clinical trials, include the registry web site andthe registration number at the end of the “Conclusions”section. Example: ClinicalTrials.gov number,NCT002209456. This information does not count to-ward the 260 word limit.
KeywordsInclude 3–4 keywords associated with your manuscript,separated by semicolons (eg, active vitamin D; parathyroidhormone-related peptide; hypercalcemia; bone resorption).The keywords should be different than the words in thetitle of your manuscript.
Article ProperOriginal articles should not exceed 6000 words includingreferences and figure and table legends. No more than acombined total of 7 figures and/or tables (figures are lim-ited to 6 panels per figure). Additional images may beincluded as supplemental files to be published onlineonly.
ReferencesFor references in all manuscripts, list first 3 authorsfollowed by et al; followed by article title, journalname, year, volume, and page ranges. Submissionswith references where two or more authors share firstauthorship must feature those names in bold type.
FiguresFor a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regardingfigure creation and submission please go to www.gastrojournal.org and click on Figure FAQs under Info forAuthors. Resolution must be at least 300 ppi. Line art willbe redrawn by the AGA Institute’s medical illustrationteam.
Supplemental FilesPortions of the manuscript (including video abstracts, fig-ures, and tables) to be published online only should beuploaded separately as Supporting Documents.
Clinical TrialsIf your manuscript is a clinical trial, a statement mustbe made in the Methods Section that all authors hadaccess to the study data and had reviewed and ap-proved the final manuscript. Additionally, the studyprotocol must be uploaded as a separate attachment.If your study is a randomized controlled trial, youmust include a CONSORT checklist* and flow dia-gram.
