INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE – Adventure Activities and Outdoor Learning (AO1) Atlantic Outdoors delivers a wide and diverse outdoor learning programme, which includes land, water, underground, and sea based adventure activities. The college has a range of onsite facilities (e.g. climbing wall, swimming pool) and it also benefits from its coastal location. Sessions are also delivered off site at venues away from the college and occasionally further afield in the UK and Europe. Taking part in any adventurous activity involves some element of risk. It is not possible to totally eliminate all risks. The management of safety is the shared responsibility of the participant, parent/ guardian and Atlantic Outdoors staff. Where the risks are managed effectively, a balance is achieved between having fun, learning and everyone’s safety. The range of activities offered can be grouped into the following categories and examples: Mountain and Land Based Trekking and Mountaineering, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Mountain Biking, Caving, Camp Craft Water Based Paddle Sport (sea and inland), Sailing and Sail Sports, Power Boating, White Water Rafting, Paddle Boarding, Sub Aqua Sea and Surf Board Surfing, Surf Lifesaving, Surf Kayaking Combined Water and Rock Coasteering, Gorge Scrambling General Activity Archery, Problem Solving and Team Tasks/Games, Pool Activities, Bush Craft, Field Work Award Schemes and National Governing Body Awards Atlantic Outdoors is a licensed organisation for the Duke of Edinburgh Award and work in partnership with a range of NGB’s to deliver leadership awards, certificated training and assessment. Specific information about the activity(s) being offered and/or curriculum being followed can either be found in the supporting documentation supplied or can be viewed on the Atlantic College website: www.atlanticcollege.org Our Commitment to Safety Atlantic Outdoors identifies and assesses hazards and takes the necessary action to manage the risks associated. We have a safety management system, which is backed up inspectors from the Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority and Royal Yachting Association. INFORMATION AND GUIDANCE – Adventure Activities and Outdoor Learning (AO1)

Atlantic Outdoors delivers a wide and diverse outdoor learning programme, which includes land, water, underground,

and sea based adventure activities. The college has a range of onsite facilities (e.g. climbing wall, swimming pool) and it

also benefits from its coastal location. Sessions are also delivered off site at venues away from the college and

occasionally further afield in the UK and Europe.
