■ Between 1989 and 2002, overall influenzavaccination rates increased in elderly individuals inthe US, but coverage in some ethnic groups remainssuboptimal, according to results from a studyconducted in the US. Data from National HealthInterview Surveys was analysed to determine thetrends in influenza vaccination in elderly subjects.Influenza vaccination coverage increased from 30.5%in 1989 to 65.6% in 2002. The likelihood ofvaccination was significantly greater in patients whohad regular contact with a physician, had a regularplace of care, were married, were aged ≥ 75 years,had a chronic medical condition, had a highereducation level, or were non-Hispanic White.Lu P-J, et al.
