ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
To you, my God, I lift my soul, I trust in you; let me never come to shame.
Do not let my enemies laugh at me. No one who waits for you is ever put to shame.
COMMUNION ANTIPHON
The Lord will shower his gifts, and our land will yield its fruit.
Dear Parishioners,
Today we begin using the new translation of the Missal in our parish. To facilitate a smooth transition to the new words, you will find pew cards at the end of each pew with all the new responses. Also, at Masses where there is a
choir, the new words will be up on the overhead. I feel sure that we will all soon be accustomed to this change in our
liturgy. I thank the Liturgy Core Group for their work in preparing for the change.
Today is also the first day of Advent, the four week period of preparation for Christmas. Advent is sometimes called "the little Lent", because like the Lenten period, we take steps to prepare our hearts through extra prayer and sacrifice.
Perhaps you could pick up an Advent reflection booklet at the piety stall today, or join the Advent programme running in our parish, both good ways to introduce a little prayer time to your days. You might also try to come to Mass during
the week, if that is possible for you, because the Eucharist is the centre of our spiritual life. - Fr. Sunny

Missal. You will find the new words on the pew cards
at the end of each pew.
There will be a number of changes to the Glory to

earth’ will be replaced by ‘and on earth peace to
people of good will’. The second sentence has been
re-phrased and will read ‘We praise you, we bless
you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you
thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly
King, O God, almighty Father.’
The third sentence has also been expanded to
include the repe((ons in the La(n: ‘Lord Jesus Christ,
Only Bego%en Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of
the Father, you take away the sins of the world,
have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the
world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the

BLESSING OF THE ADVENT WREATH
A-er the Greeng, the Presider moves to
the Advent Wreath and introduces the rite
of blessing as follows:
Presider:
The Advent Wreath will be one of the
principal symbols in the church and in our
Liturgy over the next four weeks of wai(ng
and prepara(on for Christmas. Today, we
will bless the wreath and light the FIRST
CANDLE. Before we do so, let us pause for a
moment and pray together with a longing
and wai(ng for the coming of the Lord....
(Pause)
God of grace and promise
At the beginning of this Advent season
We gather as a community to prepare for
the coming of Jesus.
We ask you now to bless our Advent
Wreath and all who gather round it.
May it remind us of the first coming of
Jesus in the Incarna(on,
of his con(nued coming into our hearts,
and into our world today
and of his future coming in glory.
Presider: May the circle of green leaves
which has no beginning and no
end, be a sign of God’s
everlas(ng love for us.
All: Come Lord Jesus.
Presider: As we kindle the flames on these
candles each week, may a spirit
of love be kindled in our hearts,
so that we will be ready to
welcome Christ this Christmas..
All: Come Lord Jesus.
Presider: May his coming bring true
peace on earth and herald the dawn of a
new day.
All: Come Lord Jesus.
FIRST CANDLE is lit as the people say or
sing: Christ be Our Light.
