in 2012-13. Several measures have been taken by theGovernment to finance the current account deficit. However,measures to strengthen current account, i.e. the exportsof goods and services, need attention. The present Seminarwould provide a platform to discuss major issues in India’sForeign Trade, impact of global economy on India’s tradeand implications for policy and on how to strengthen India’sforeign trade sector.

Objectives:

The objectives of the seminar are to discuss the recent trendsand issues in India’s foreign trade and to suggest policymeasures for improving prospects for future growth.

- Comparative Advantage

- Market/Product Diversification

- Supply Chain Management

• Impact of Currency Fluctuations

• Regional Groupings and India’s Foreign Trade

• WTO Issues

Guidelines for Paper Presentations:

The manuscripts should be typed with 1.5 line spacing onone side of the page (A4) only with wide (3 cm) margins.Figures and Tables in the manuscript are to be includedin the appropriate places and also are presented on separatepages at the end of the manuscript. All pages should beconsecutively numbered at the bottom right corner. All textshould be justified in single column. There should not beany underlines or footnotes. The text should be clear,concise, and in proper English, type in 12 point Times NewRoman font.

Publication of the Selected Papers:

Few Selected papers after due editorial process wouldbe considered for publication in the School’s Publications.

Program Schedule:

The Seminar would be held on 4th January, 2014 atGITAM School of International Business, GITAMUniversity Visakhapatnam. The program will be dividedinto technical sessions and session will be chaired by anexpert from academia/ industry. Each author will be given10 minutes to present, which will be followed by discussionfor about 5 minutes. The conference venue will be equippedwith an LCD projector for presentation.

Over the last six decades, India’s foreign trade hasundergone a rapid transformation in terms of compositionof commodities. Exports cover a wide range of traditionaland non-traditional products while imports mainly consistof capital goods, petroleum products, raw materials andintermediate goods to meet the domestic industrialdemands. The 2008 world economic crisis had a severeimpact on India’s foreign trade. The balance of trade deficitincreased from $ 118 billion in 2008-09 to $ 191 billion
