NEW proClucts stantly for faster, more precise pro- cessing and a 24-cubic-foot tub that can accommodate large and small parts alike. ALMCO's new energy- efficient SBB design features labor- saving, automatic separation of parts from the abrasive media, at pre- determined intervals according to finishing requirements. Its separat- ing screen surface is longer than other round-bowl designs, which permits faster separation of parts and machine unloading. The SBB-24 can lift and move many different parts over the separating dam with- out jamming or hitting each other on the screen. Plus, the tub, with a l- inch-thick polyurethane lining that protects parts, can also serve as a thru-feed or one-pass machine, adding to the unit's versatility, when the dam is held in the up position. A key benefit of the spiral design is its up-hill tub bottom, which pro- vides a larger rolling mass right to the screen area. This allows larger parts to be lifted up the dam and over the screening area. Larger parts can be processed in the tub because of greater clearance between the screen and tub bottom. The calibrated slip-on weight with special cutter is positioned on the test specimen for a set period of time. The length of the indentation on the coating is an indication of the hardness of the surface. Mandatory test in Qualicoat, QIB and GSB accredited laboratories. NICKEL PLATING TECHNOLOGY Coventya, Inc., a specialty chemical company that manufactures and markets processes for the metal fin- ishing and water treatment indus- tries, introduces the CRYSTAL 301 Process, the newest addition to its line of decorative nickel plating tech- nologies. The distinguishing feature of the CRYSTAL 301 Process is the use of Leveler Technology assisted with Index to provide a process that exhibits superior brightness and lev- eling. Along with superior bright- ness and leveling, the process exhibits unequalled bright throwing power (low current density), while exhibiting superior deposit ductility and tolerance to metallic contamina- tion. This process is a "perfect fit" for those installations that are process- ing a variety of work, ranging from exterior automotive trim, including aluminum wheels and POP, to stampings and wire goods. For more information, please call (216) 351-1500 or e-mail [email protected]. OSCILLATING ABRASION TESTER Paul N. Gardner Co. offers the Model 6160, which is based on the oscillating sand tester. The instru- ment, which replaces Model 6100, is used to mea-sure the relative resist- ance or susceptibility of a material to surface abrasion and scratching caused by an oscillating abrasive media. The specimens are mounted in a holder located in the bottom of a tray, which is filled to a uniform depth with a standardized abrasive media. The tray reciprocates in a back-and-forth motion, which caus- es the entire mass of the abrasive media to shift. With the optional Bayer Test Kit, the Model 6160 can determine the abrasion resistance of ophthalmic lenses. Applications of the Bayer Test include transparent materials and coatings. The new design of the Oscillating Abrasion Tester allows for increased operating stability. The speed range has remained 100-200 cycles per minute but the range of stroke lengths have increased; there is now an adjustable range from 0.25-6.0 inches (6.5-152.5mm). The Model 6160 includes: specimen tray with square specimen holder; 4/10 silica abrasive media (50 lb); spirit bubble level; specimen spacers (set of8); dis- posable tray cover; specimen removal tool; 6-inch rule; power cords; mounting hardware; and operating instructions.
