Teach Your Child Good Dental Habits

• You can brush your baby’s gums even before he has teeth.

• Most important thing to remember is to do it gently. You can use a soft washcloth for this.

•  Once your baby’s teeth appear, then you can begin brushing his teeth with an infant toothbrush. Toothbrush bristles should be soft.

• Consult your dentist on this along with the appropriate toothpaste to use. A fluoride toothpaste is recommended though. For a start, a grain-sized toothpaste will do and you can make it to pea size once your kids turns three.

Brush Your Child’s Teeth• Also, brush your child’s teeth at least twice a day

to remove bacteria on the inside and outside surfaces. This will also help prevent bad breath.

• You can begin to floss your baby’s teeth once they touch each other. Then again, it’s good to talk about this with your dentist so you can gather tips.

• Brush your child’s teeth before bedtime and refrain from giving him treats or food after.

• With this, avoid giving him a bottle with juice as he goes down for sleep. For toddlers, it’s good to brush your teeth all together so they’d see brushing as a fun activity. Train them too to rinse with water.

• Sweets are more likely to cause tooth decay.

• Limit the amount of sweets you’re giving kids, including juice drinks.

• One strategy is to serve these foods during mealtime and make sure that you serve them with water.

• You can also serve them these as a treat.

Do Away With The Pacifier• If your child still wouldn’t let go of

his pacifier at the age of three, then it’s time to talk to your doctor.

• While your kid loves his pacifier, it may no longer be friendly for him in the long run.

• It can bear an impact how his teeth line up and also affect the shape of his mouth.

Be Patient

• Be firm with your kid about the importance of brushing and flossing.

• Your kid will need your help brushing until they’re around six.

• They may not be able to brush their teeth on their own properly until they turn ten.

• That’s okay. But see to it that your kid understands he has no choice but to brush.

Help them Out

To get your little one to cooperate, you can pick a brush they personally chose such as those designed with their favorite cartoon character.

It could also help to brush not too close before bedtime so your child still has the energy.
