Free Birthday Attention

Event Pitch

To spread a little joy

To make people feel good

To bring a smile to people’s faces

To make people laugh

The • We will advertise “Free Birthday Attention” in a public space.

• The area will either have a large ‘X’ marking a central spot or a person dressed up holding a sign.

• There will be a group of around 20-25 participants nearby, disguised as plain clothed onlookers but prepared with streamers, confetti, party poppers, party hats etc.

• The point is to encourage a passerby to participate and spark the interaction.

• The plain clothed onlookers will then jump up cheering, throwing the streamers etc. and start to sing happy birthday

• There will be a cake with sparklers and candles, allowing the person to experience an impromptu birthday party for 1-2 minutes

Who

Our group will work with one another and expand the number of participants through our own social networks.

Friends, family and fellow RMIT students will be encouraged to get involved either as sources of ideas or/and participate in the actual event. Either way sharing their experiences online.

• Utilization of #hashtags

• People will be invited to the event via social media

• Participants encouraged to help us document the project by uploading photos and video to social media

• We will be filming the event and uploading an edited video

• Contributors can tag themselves and stay connected via comments and their own uploads
