    tem of public education in the world. The curricu-lum for the IIB program is broken into three areas ofstudy: Public Relations, Business Communication,and General Business course offerings. Students at-tend courses for eight weeks on the SUNY New Paltzcampus.

    PUBLIC RELATIONSThe Public Relations portion ofthe IIB program offers studentsan intensive look into public re-lations and the importance of itin the corporate world. The in-structors of the public relationssegment are diverse, and highlyqualified in their fields. They

    have taught in our program formany years and have been someof our students favorites.

    BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONIn order to join the IIB program, all participantsmust demonstrate a high level of English proficiencyThe Business Communication course builds on thisbase by providing advanced business language skillsto fine tune spoken and written English. Specialemphasis is placed on learning American businesspractices. The instructors for this course include anEnglish as a Second Language instructor and a publicrelations professional.

    BUSINESSThe School of Business at the StateUniversity of New York at New Paltzis committed to educating and de-veloping students to be competentbusiness professionals in a globaleconomy. As part of the IIB pro-

    gram, students will be enrolled inregular university business schoolclasses based on their academic in-terests, educational backgrounds,and course availability. IIB studentscan select courses from the under-graduate curriculum, and the MBAlevels if their current academicpreparation supports it.

    he Institute for International Business (IIB) offers studies in business, marketing,public relations, and business communications at the State University of New Yorkat New Paltz, followed by full-time internships in New York City. Our progra mhas been successfully placing interns in New York City since 1990.

    At IIB, we are committed to helping our students recognize and appreciate a global approachto business and management, all in an intense and rewarding four months. We do so with acaring and committed staff in a small-town atmosphere only 120 km from one of the greatestcities in the world.

    The IIB program also provides an excellent opportunity to work as a full-time intern with a

    leading organization in New York City, and hone valuable skills in the cultural and businesscapital of the world. Our program allows participants to:

    Our program runs the entire academic semester, with the first half spent on campus.During these initial weeks, the students take courses in public relations and businesscommunications, both especially designed for the IIB student. In addition, the studentsjoin regular New Paltz undergraduate or grad uate students in two business courses of theirchoosing. The second half of the semester is spent working at an unpaid internship for acompany in New York City.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    To be eligible for the IIB program, participants must beat least 21 years of age and have completed a minimumof two years of post-secondary education. Applicants

    must be currentlyattending a univer-sity/college or havegraduated less thanone year ago, andmust demonstratea high level of profi-ciency in written andspoken English. It isalso recommended

    that participants have at least 6 months of pr ior workexperience, although not required. Most importantly,applicants must be bright, ambitious, and motivatedto take advantage of the opportunities provided bythe program.

    VISA INFORMATIONSUNY New Paltz is one of a small number of Americanuniversities authorized by the U.S. Department of StateTOADMINISTERA*%XCHANGE6ISITOR4RAINING0ROGRAMIIB will provide participants with a certificate of eligi-bility for J-1 immigration status. The J-1 visa allowsparticipants to study and work legally in the UnitedStates for the duration of the IIB training program.
