User will be prompted with a Pop-Up Window, named "IEEE 1584 Based Arc Flash Calculator". (Figure 1)</p><p>General Setting</p><p>1) To use the arc flash calculator, the user needs to enable the macro setting.</p><p>2) To enable the macro setting, open a blank MS Excel.</p><p> (a) MS Excel 2003 - Tools --&gt; Macro --&gt; Security --&gt; Security Level --&gt; Low </p><p> (b) MS Excel 2007 - Office Start Button --&gt; Excel Options --&gt; Trust Center --&gt; Trust Center Settings --&gt; Macro Settings --&gt; Enable All Macros</p><p>Instructions</p><p>3) Close the blank MS Excel.</p><p>1) Click the file to run the arc flash calculator. User will be prompted with a Pop-Up Window, named "IEEE 1584 Based Arc Flash Calculator". (Figure 2)</p><p>a) If the user needs any assistance to use this page, then the user </p><p>can click the "Help" button placed at the top left corner on the </p><p>page. On the help page, click "Close Print Preview" button at top </p><p>right to return to "TRANSFORMER NAMEPLATE DATA" page.</p><p>b) User can click the "IEEE 1584 ASSUMPTIONS" button to know the</p><p>IEEE 1584 standard assumptions.</p><p>c) User can click the "?" symbol to find out the range of the value for </p><p>the following input data:</p><p>(i) Secondary Voltage of the Transformer</p><p>(ii) % Impedance of the Transformer</p><p>(iii) Transformer Capacity</p><p>(iv) Protective Device Clearing Time</p><p>Figure 2: TRANSFORMER NAMEPLATE DATA</p><p>d) User must key-in all the required informations:-</p><p>(i) Secondary Voltage of the Transformer in V</p><p>(ii) % Impedance of the Transformer in %</p><p>(iii) Transformer Capacitive in kVA</p><p>(iv) Protective Device Clearing Time in s</p><p>e) Equipment tag will be set automatically as the user has already keyed-in the equipment tag at the opening screen.</p><p>f) User must select one only of the equipment and grounding systems.</p><p>g) The user must click the "CALCULATE" button after keying in all the required informations as mentioned in (d). </p><p>h) The user will be prompted with the following question when the user will click the "CALCULATE" button: </p><p>1) Do you want to key-in your working distance?</p><p>i) If the user has any specific value for working distance, then the user must click the "Yes" button on the pop-up window.</p><p>j) When the user will click the "Yes" button,a pop-up window will appear enabling the user to key-in the value for working distance in inches.</p><p>k) If the user click the "No" button, then the calculator will use the default value of the working distance for the selected equipment and the voltage class of </p><p>equipment as per IEEE 1584.</p></li><li><p>3) The Arc Flash results will be shown in the new pop-up window, named "ARC FLASH RESULTS". (Figure 3)</p><p>a) If the user needs any assistance to use this page, then the user </p><p>can click the "Help" button placed at the top left corner. On the </p><p>help page, click "Close Print Preview" button at top right to return </p><p>to "ARC FLASH RESULTS" page.</p><p>b) The following Arc Flash results will be displayed:-</p><p>(i) Bolted Fault Current in kA</p><p>(ii) Arcing Current in kA</p><p>(iii) Arc Flash Protection Boundary in ft</p><p>(iv) Incident Energy in cal/cm2</p><p>(v) Hazard / Risk Category Level of Arc Flash PPE</p><p>c) User can click the "Recalculate" button, to return to </p><p> "TRANSFORMER NAMEPLATE DATA" page to recalculate.</p><p>d) User can print the summary of result sheet (Figure 4) by clicking </p><p>the "Print Result" button</p><p>e) User can save the summary of result sheet (Figure 4) by clicking </p><p>the "Save Result" button.
