SACRED HEART WADSWORTH, OHIO This weekend, we welcome Fr. Greg Bramlage and his team from Missionaries of the New Evangelization. Fr. Greg was here at Sacred Heart a few years ago to give us a Lenten Mission. He and his team spoke about healing and the power of God’s love and mercy in our lives. There is a great power in God’s love and mercy that can heal us in many different ways. When we are willing to allow the grace of forgiveness to work in our lives, we can come to realize the strength and comfort that there is in the love of God.
Fr. Greg will be conducting our Lenten Mission this week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7 PM in the church. Fr. Greg has given Missions to thousands of people throughout the United States, Africa and India, as well as Central and South America, evangelizing with the Word of God and teaching others how to pray for miracles with expectant faith. He is headquartered in the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Fr. Bramlage will speak on the following topics:
Monday: “Renewed in the Holiness of Truth” Ephesians 4:23
Tuesday: “Delivered from the Dominion of Darkness” Colossians 1:13 Wednesday: “Built Upon the Rock” Luke 6:48
In Luke Chapter 6, Jesus speaks of two foundations upon which our lives may be built. One is that of His word which He describes as a “Rock” that keeps us safe from the storms of life. The other He describes as sand, which are the lies of the enemy that debilitate us and destroy our relationships. God desires His people to walk in truth and to know His peace and freedom continually. In this Level II Parish Mission, Fr. Greg of Missionaries will expose the stealth ways in which the enemy works to defeat us. He will also give us the Scriptural truths and the prayers needed to be set free from emotional, spiritual, and physical bondage. Each night we will worship God in “Spirit and Truth” as we pray for God’s healing in our lives. Please come with an open heart, ready to be awed by the extravagant love of God. Children are welcome. Remember! On Wednesday, March 11 we will be hearing confessions from 6 to 8 PM, along with all the parishes in the diocese. Please take time to come to confession and invite someone else to come with you, perhaps some friend or family member who has not been to confession for a long time. This sacrament is a wonderful gift from God so that we can know and experience His love and mercy in a very profound and real way. May God grant all of us the grace to confess our sins with true sorrow. Our Parish Communal Penance Service will be on Wednesday, March 25 at 7 PM. There will be visiting priests here to help hear confessions. In next Sunday’s bulletin, you will find an insert that will help one prepare to receive the sacrament and a little explanation as to why it is good to do so. Iron Chef: I am very grateful to all who worked so hard to make our Iron Chef fundraiser for our St. Vincent de Paul Society the best ever. We were able to raise over $35,000.00 from the sponsors and all who attended the Iron Chef Event. The members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society did an outstanding job. Congratulations to the winners of the Iron Chef Competition, Alan and Patty Beery. Thank you to all the chefs who competed this year. I hope we will see all of you back next year. Our St. Vincent de Paul Society does a great job in caring for the poor and those in need. The members sacrifice many hours to continue the work of charity, just as Jesus taught us. However, this would not be possible with the sacrifices and generosity of our parish throughout the year. May God bless all these generous people for their sacrifices and kindness. We must also remember that what we do for those in need we do because of our love for Jesus Christ, our God and Savior. Congratulations to our 8th Grade CYO boys’ basketball team. They played in the championship game last Sunday and came in second place. I understand they played a very good game and fought hard. We are proud of them for their efforts. May God bless them, their parents, and their coaches. Great job guys!

Second Sunday of Lent Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and do not be afraid.” And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, “Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
Saint Vincent de Paul Society is requesting toilet paper as part of their Share A Can program. Donations can be left at the church entrances the weekend of March 14th & 15th..
